Canvas Updates
What's new for 2015-2016?
Welcome 6th and 7th Grade Teachers!
All teachers, students, and courses for grades 6-13 have been added this year
IAM Integration
Teachers and students will log into Canvas using their IAM credentials. They will log in via my.ncedcloud.org.
Instructions for claiming the IAM account can be accessed below:
Sections
Courses were imported with sections. If a teacher teaches multiple sections of the same course, he/she will only see one course listed, but all sections have been created within that course. In the past a separate Canvas course was created for each section.
Here are some FAQs related to working with Sections in Canvas.
Grading Periods
The widely anticipated grading periods have finely arrived! We have created account level grading periods to correspond to the traditional calendar courses.
To find out how to enable and/or modify these grading periods in your own Canvas courses, view this Canvas Guide.
Excuse Assignments
You can now excuse an assignment for one or more students. To learn more, review this Canvas Guide.
PowerSchool Grade Passback
You ask and you shall receive. The new PowerSchool integration will allow us to push grades from Canvas to PowerSchool.
To learn more, view the following resources:
- Canvas-PowerSchool Integration Video
- How do I set up an assignment to be sent to PowerSchool?
- How do I publish grades to PowerSchool?
Commons and NCLOR
There are two new fantastic ways to find and import content directly into your Canvas courses. Commons is a Canvas resource that allows you to share and borrow content from other Canvas users. NCLOR is a NC database of lessons, activities, plans, and more.
Both can be accessed within Canvas.
To learn more about Commons, visit the Commons Guide. Training for NCLOR will be coming soon!
