Banta Unified School District
July Update
Superintendent's Corner
As a kid, my dad only took vacation once a year, and that was in July, when we would travel to Lake Shasta. It was with great excitement that he would prepare for our trip. We would load up in the Econoline van, whose day job was a flower delivery van. My dad would bungee cord folding lawn chairs to the floor of the van, and anchor everything down with large ice chests. My sister and I would wedge ourselves into the back of the van amidst flats of soda, inner tubes, suitcases and groceries for a week. My father was a road warrior, and hated to make any type of pit stop. No site seeing for my dad, he was a get from point A to Point B kinda guy! These were the days when we listened to walk mans and cassette tape recorders to kill the time.
July meant long and lazy days on the houseboat with all of my cousins. Shenanigans until late in the evening, and so much laughter. We learned how to water ski, how to navigate a big family, and learned that vacations were never quite long enough!
I often think about those family vacations and the memories that were made. I wish you a wonderful July, filled with vacations, and family, and of course memories!
We will see you in August!

6th Graders It's Time for the Tdap!
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As your student prepares to enter 7th grade in the upcoming school year, it is important that they are up to date on all of their immunizations. As required by the state of California, your child will need to provide proof to the school that they have received their Tdap Booster immunization prior to entry into 7th grade.
If we do not have documentation of this immunization, unfortunately, we will not be able to place your child on a class list come the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Please note, there have been no extensions granted by the state due to COVID-19 and the TDAP requirement remains in place.
Please provide proof of your child’s Tdap immunization to the school no later than June 6, 2022.

Food Services
We got a grant!
"Banta USD is excited to announce we were awarded a plant-based micro-grant of $1,000 to expand our selection of plant-based foods. Specifically, we are going to focus on new bean dishes and making our own hummus. This is a great way for our students to try new things and expand their pallets with student taste testing."
From the Ag corner. Our plants are thriving. Our chickens lay eggs daily. Students have had the opportunity to help in various areas of our farm. Sunflower seeds were planted. We received a huge compost donation from Olivera Enterprises, thank you so much for your generous donation. This saved the district thousands of dollars as well as gave us what we needed to start our pumpkins and corn. More donations or various items are always needed. Please see our donation letter for needs. We will be actively working on the farm over summer break.
"Banta community is excited to bring 4-H back to our families. This is open to all kids age 5-18. No residential boundaries. We are looking for student officers and parent volunteers to expand our program. Please look out for our next in-person meeting. We have conveniently made you a survey to show interest or intent to participate."
