Reminder that orange McGown car rider tags are required for picking up students through the car rider line at dismissal. Cars that do not have the official orange McGown car rider tag will be directed to park and walk inside to check out the student from the front office. Thank you for displaying your orange McGown car rider tag to ensure the safety of our students at dismissal. Senate Bill 2158
On Monday, October 17, you should have received the following email from CFISD Communication:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
During the last legislative session, Senate Bill 2158 was passed, which required the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to provide parents with an inkless, in-home child fingerprint and DNA identification card for children in grades K-8. If ever needed, parents may submit this kit to federal, state, tribal, or local law enforcement to help locate and return a missing or trafficked child.
On behalf of the State of Texas, CFISD will soon be distributing these in-home child identification kits. Please understand that there is no obligation to use the kit, but if you choose, this will allow you to have a set of fingerprints and DNA for your child that you can keep at home and turn over to law enforcement in case of an emergency.
Please do NOT return the kits (used or unused) to school.

Notes From the Front Desk
Absences
If your student needs to be absent from school, please send a written note when they return. Absences cannot be excused in advance. The note needs to include the following:
- Student’s first name, not initials or nicknames
- Student’s last name
- Homeroom Teacher’s name
- Parent’s name
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s phone number
By providing the above information, we are certain to give your child the credit for the note.
Please do not send absence notices to the McGown@cfisd.net email address.
Mid-Year GT Screening

Words from the Library
Our Makerspace is prepping for students! Makerspace is a time for students to tinker, create, solve problems, and learn new techniques. Each class will be invited to Makerspace multiple times throughout the year. Students select building and/or craft materials to solve puzzles and problems presented through a lesson or task assignment. We are looking for a large array of materials to give students options and to get their creativity flowing! This list is to get the Makerspace craft supplies started from scratch. Any donations you have would be so appreciated. Please see our Sign Up Genius below. All materials will be delivered to Mrs. Hogan in the library.
