A Message from Mr. DiFilippo
It has been a busy week here at Dyer. I'm happy to report that it's been a little less lonely too! I have really enjoyed popping in to visit with many of of our students during video lessons and chats! I am continually amazed at the quality education that is happening each and every day.
As many of you are aware GCPS announced yesterday that we will continue with Digital Learning through the end of the school year on Wednesday 5/20. They also included several other announcements, which you can view in the flyer below.
I hope you all have a restful weekend and a blessed Easter.
Sincerely,
Mr. Mike DiFilippo
Principal, Dyer Elementary

All GCPS students have access to free online tutoring through the Gwinnett County Public Library. Students can access Tutor.com using their GCPL Branch Out accounts. Students log in using their student ID and their birthday in the mmdd format. (For example, a December 14 birthday would be entered as 1214.)

2020 Kindergarten Registration
New this year, much of the registration process, including the uploading of documents needed for registration, will be completed online. Most document attachments (PDF, JPG, DOC, PNG, etc.) are compatible. The file size limit is 2 MB. Families who are unable to obtain the required immunization and/or screening documents due to the COVID-19 situation will be given additional time to obtain those documents but should go ahead and begin the online registration process. The documents families will need for registration can be found here.
Counselor's Corner
I am available by email for parents or students at dawn.garner@gcpsk12.org. An appointment to talk by phone for parents or students can be setup by email as well. I am here to help!
Once every 6 weeks, students have a lesson with the counselor called "Guidance" instead of their media special. All students have access to my eclass page called "Mrs. Garner's Counseling Page." The week of Mar. 16 to 20 was 4th grade, and Mar. 23 to 27 was 5th grade. The lessons are still available if students have not completed them. The week of April 6 to 10 will be Kindergarten. Thanks for your support in making sure your students do these lessons!
Below is some valuable information from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta regarding how to talk to your children about Covid-19 if they are anxious or have questions. Please reach out to me if you need support. We are so proud of how hard the students (and the parents!) have been working!
