Welcome to the Forks!!!
Hello, Five Forks Family,
My name is Kasi (pronounced Casey) Tiller, and I am ecstatic about joining the family. I didn’t take the traditional path to teaching. In fact, I had never dreamed of being a teacher, and frankly never considered it as a career option. But now, I am not sure why it took me so long to join this group of superheroes. I thought about being an actor and becoming rich and famous, but that didn’t work out.
So, I went to college and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Radio and TV Broadcasting. This was my second attempt to be on TV. That didn’t work either so I completed a Master’s Degree in Public and Community Health from Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The first Act of my life included experiences and positions held in many areas of healthcare, including education, policy development, consulting, healthcare quality management, compliance, and administration. After 20 plus years in healthcare, “life happened” and I found myself looking for a new career. One morning I passed a sign that was an invitation to attend a substitute teaching orientation. I attended the orientation, tried substitute teaching in a special education classroom and I loved it!
I have spent the last 3 ½ years serving in a Moderate Autism classroom at Crews Middle School where the students have taught me more than I could ever teach them. I have used this time to study and prepare myself for Act II of life, which is serving as a special education teacher.
My educational philosophy is that every child is capable of learning. Every child deserves to be treated with respect, nurtured, and given the tools needed to be successful. I consider it an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to work with students and their families. I look forward to partnering with my fellow teachers and parents to foster an environment where our students can flourish and reach their highest potential.
When there is time, I enjoy life with my husband and daughter. We live in Grayson, GA
