The historical town of Eatonville was located in Orange County, Florida. It was "The oldest Black Municipality in America." This town was incorporated in 1887. Eatonville, Florida was placed on the United States National register of Historical places on February 3,1998. When it was placed on the USNRH, it was continuously governed and operated by the people of Africa Amerian decent. Eatonville,, Florida not only had a rich heritage and played a big part in literary history. But it was also the home of Robert Hungerford Prepatory High School. This school was named after Dr. Robert Hungerford, who was teaching the local black men reading and writing.
