Screencastify for Activities
Grades K-12
Big Idea
Directions
2. Open Screencastify from your Extensions icons in the upper right corner of your Google browser.
3. Use Screencastify to record your screen as you demonstrate an activity or skill to students. Your Screencastify video will save automatically to your Google Drive.
4. Post the video to Schoology or Google Classroom for students to access.
When to Use
You can also use the strategy as part of a Flipped Classroom. Post the Screencastify video to Google Drive or Schoology and have students watch it for homework. Then, they complete an activity based on the video during class.
Strategy Variations
I've included some ideas for each core subject for when to use Screencastify. You may also vary the strategy by requiring students to create a Screencastify to teach a certain topic to the rest of the class.
Social Studies- Use with map-making activities
Science- Use for instructing students how to set up an experiment
Math- Use for teaching students how to solve multi-step equations
Language Arts- Use for demonstrating to students how to annotate a text passage
