Mrs. Blackburn's class loved having our Assistant Principal read "The Good Egg."
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Smith!
1st Grade kicked off our next unit - The Big Outdoors!
Thank you Coach Moody for reading to Mrs. Park's class during Read Across America Week!
Starting on March 1st, 1st Grade teachers are banning ALL Pokemon cards from school. We have seen an increase in incidents and disagreements amongst students about Pokemon cards. To lessen distractions from learning, please keep ALL Pokemon cards at home.
Please have your child bring headphones and charge their iPads every night!
Also - Please send headphones with your student sometime this week (no earbuds please!). These will remain in our classroom for the year. These will be placed in baggies and will be used only by your student.
Please be sure your child brings their library books to school every day!
Here are the class days for library:
- Monday - Blackburn
- Tuesday - Clary
- Wednesday - Smith
- Thursday - Park
On these days, please be sure your child packs any old books so they can get new ones. Please encourage your child to take care of these books. If your child loses it or damages it, please contact our librarian: rebecca.young@gcisd.net.
Paying for Meals
GCISD will begin charging for meals this year. To see if your child qualifies for Free or Reduced Meal Pricing, please click HERE and complete the form.
To add money to your child's meal account, please send a check to school with them or drop it by the front office. **Pro Tip** Download the My School Bucks App from your App Store. You can add money directly to your child's meal account, track their spending, and receive notifications when their meal account runs low!
Breakfast- $1.65
Breakfast will be served 7:20-7:35 each morning, and students needing to grab a breakfast before heading to their classrooms should arrive as close to 7:20 as possible each day! Breakfast will be eaten in the classroom. Please communicate with your child's teacher if you need them to get breakfast from the cafeteria.
Lunch- $2.80
When will my child eat lunch?
Lunch times vary by grade level, but each grade level will have 30 minutes in the cafeteria. 30 minutes will fly by! If sending a lunch from home, please practice with your child how to open the containers by themselves.
If buying a lunch from the cafeteria, students will go through the serving line and choose a milk, entree, and sides.

Dove Behavior Expectations

CHAMPS stands for Communication, Help, Movement, Participation, and Success.
