THIS WEEK AT SPES
FROM THE DESK OF DONNA LEMAIRE, PRINCIPAL
Be What You See, Become What You Are
This coming Saturday our second graders will celebrate their First Holy Communion. We celebrate this very special event in several ways. For the last two months all staff members have been praying for one of our second graders as they prepare for their First Communion. On Friday the second graders will be recognized at the school mass with their parents present. The reason this event is so special is because our school has a Eucharistic spirituality. It is the very center of our mission. Many years ago Pope Pius X was the first pope to allow children to receive Eucharist. He encouraged the frequent reception of Eucharistic for all Catholics. As a school we have prayed for our second graders that the first reception of Eucharist will be part of a life centered in the Eucharist, bringing the Presence of Christ to others. As we are blessed to have them join us in the reception of Eucharist, let it be a reminder that we become that which we receive, The Body of Christ. Let us model that desire to be changed, transformed as the bread and wine are into Christ. Join in prayer support for these young children that they will become what they receive. Empowered.
