Setting
The setting in the beging is Austrilla (Darwin and Sydnie ) then it moves far to the north into Bangkok Thiland in which it crosses all over the city like the the welathy side to chinatown then into the Bad part of town . Then they enter Jarta Indoneshia ,and drive into the outskirts and find a abandoned wharehouse and spend the night their then head to harbor and are loaded into crates and shiped into Darwin Austrilla .The setting could have taken any place were poor people and trying to take reafuge in another nation . Although the location did aid their beeing some dramatic diferances in wealth and weather in the story . The time peiorid is modern day and pointed out a modern ishu that is ilegal imagrents entrying countries searching for a better life .
Man Vs Man
The conflict in this story is Major Yu against Alex Rider . They are constantly fighting and result in millions of dollars in damage . For one example Major Yu wanted Alex to suffer when he made him fight the strongest man in an illegal boxing ring . Alex ends up having to cheat to win but then a power failure and gun shoots cause the whole building to break out in an gun fight . This results in the whole building collapsing into the river .
Money
While I was reading the book Snakehead I noticed that almost every time someone had money they Killed , Stole , smuggled etc . So money is a symbol for crime, greed etc . This greed is what lead to Alex beeing involved in the first place . So this greed is what lead to Alex beeing asked to assit the Austrilan Government . In the part of the story were Alex is forced to fight at the illegal boxing ring . At this time the audince is placeing bets on who will win . Although they think their bet is safe and they will win lots of money (at Alex's expense ) . So to make money they wouldn't care if a 15 year old boy was hurt or killed .
Recomendation
Snakehead is an elexicant book , and i really enjoyed it . If anyone asked what I think I would say " I love it and highly recomend it to anyone who wants a little bit of a chalenge , but a good book " . The reason why I think this is that Alex Rider books are joust like a movie . It paints a clear picture of the way events happen . Such as when Alex Rider is flying into Bangkok and sees all the highrises and cars in the city . Then he also describes the rapids as a swiring mass of water that have the power to snap his raft in half . Their is also a twist in every story written by Anthony Horwozits . In Snakehead it is Ash . I can't tell you what he does , but when I found out I was infurated with him . The author does an exelent job of pulling you into the story by useing the five senses and imagrey constally through the book . So overall I recomend this book for all of my classmates and friends .
