2021-2022 Course Selection Process
Our hope is to partner with you as you make your decisions and to support you with the resources needed to be successful once those decisions have been made.

Deadlines to Know
- Level-Up Conversation Deadlines (See description below)
- Dual Enrollment Registration Deadline (See Course Information Page for More Details)
Tuesday, June 22nd:
- Elective Change and Course Level-Decrease Deadline
Teacher Recommendations and Level-Up Conversations
As such, students/families wishing to select a level ABOVE that which was recommended by the current teacher must have a 'Level-Up' conversation with this teacher before the counselor can make the change to the course request.
The deadline for this 'Level-Up Conversation' is Friday, May 14th.
Course Selection Timeline
- Core (Math, English, Science, Social Science) Teachers will Enter Course-Level Recommendations for Next Year
- These Recommendations will be Visible in ParentVUE/StudentVUE under 'Course Requests' on January 26th
- Recommended Levels will be Locked in for Course Selection until Students meet with Counselors for Scheduling
- Students and Parents must Communicate with Recommending Teacher if they would like to Select a Level Above that which was Recommended (See: Level-Up Process)
- Teachers will Discuss Recommendations with Students
- Students will Participate in Course Selection Lessons During Advisory
- Lessons are Posted on the Heritage Course Selection Information Page
- Students will Become Familiar with Course Information and Course Process

- We Invite You to Watch Presentations Posted by Each Academic Department and Elective Videos Before the Live Q&A Session
- Live Q&A Sessions Will be Held from 6-7pm
- The Following Departments Will Host Q&A Meets: All Academic Departments, School Counseling/UMHT/Career Center

- If You are Considering a Level Above that Recommended, Consider Conferencing with Your Current Teacher to Discuss
Level-Up Conversations: February 1 - May 14
- Students Wanting to Select a Level Above that Recommended by the Teacher Must Complete the Level-Up Process
- Students and Parents Need to Communicate with the Recommending Teacher to Discuss Areas to Strengthen and Resources Recommended to Support a Selection Above that Recommended Before the Level Can be Changed
- School Counselors Meet Virtually with All Students on their Caseloads
- Academic Career Plan Created for all Students and Shared with Parents/Students
Dual Enrollment Registration Deadline: May 14
- Students Wanting to Take Dual Enrollment (DE) Courses at Heritage for 2021-2022 Must Have Completed DE Registration Process for NOVA by May 14
- Counselors will Discuss Eligibility and Selection During Meetings
- Look for an Email With Your Student's Course Requests to Arrive late May
- This is Your Prompt to Begin Discussing any Additional Changes Prior to the June 22nd Deadline (see below)
- If You Wish to Change an Elective Choice for 2021-2022 or Select a Lower Level of a Core Course, You Must Request This by June 22nd (One Week After the Last Day of School)
