Morning Message
It is Think about it Thursday!
Let’s think about the animals around your house. You might be surprised to know just how many animals visit your house during the day and at night. One way to discover animals around your house is to track animal prints. Learning to identify prints and animal tracking is a fun activity for almost all ages. Watch this video to learn even more about how you can discover animals around your neighborhood!
Literacy
Description of Work:
We have a few more websites for you. Spend 15-20 minutes on researching your animal. Be reading for new information to include in your report. These new sites may or may not have information on your animal but they are great sites to explore!
Files and Resources Needed:
DK Find Out Animals and Nature
Animals for Kids: Learn about your favorite animal (good information but text heavy. May be tricky to read independently)
A to Z Animals (a lot of text but great photos and videos)
Description of Work:
Keep adding to your animal research report.
Don’t forget you are teaching your reader about this animal. Have you included this information?
What does it sound like
What kind of home does it make
What do the babies look like
Fun facts
I bet you have other ideas too!
Don’t forget to check for spaces, capitals, punctuation and your sight words. Stretch out your words and spell the best you can.
Word Work/Vocabulary
Choose 1 choice each day this week from the list below to practice compound words and syllables. Youngers may want to start with the syllable practice and then try a challenge later in the week with compound words.

Build them with twigs or lincoln logs
Build them with playdough
Use an easel to spell them
Write your words with chalk outside
IT'S BRAIN BREAK TIME!!!
Math
Dear Mathematicians,
In the Math Messages for the last 2 days, I gave you a story problem that used a Make 10 fact. Today, before you choose one of the games from the list, can you write a story problem like one of the ones I wrote? See if someone in your family or your teacher can solve it! Have fun, and don’t forget to share some of your math work with your teacher :)
