Peek at the Week
LANGUAGE ARTS -
Our new reading unit is all about communities across time. Last week we read "The House on Maple Street" and practiced visualizing. This week we will read "Days of Digging" and practice asking questions and clarifying our thinking. We are going to try a fun new way to practice talking about our thinking with a partner. Ask your child to try it with you when you read together! This week we will also continue to work on different ways that adjectives are used in a sentence.
We will have another fun science unit about animals starting this week. Students will start by classifying animals, learn how offspring are like their parents, and study the life cycles of different animals. Our field trip to Sea Life will complement this unit perfectly!
Our research papers on planets turned out amazing! I hope your child shared their hard work with you! Students really enjoyed typing their papers on the computer. This week we will be focusing on conventions including quotation marks and commas in a series. Students will also be writing their own creative piece of work and editing their work.
There will be a test on Friday on Unit 5 Lesson 2. Students should be studying their spelling words each day. They can use https://www.spellingcity.com/ndonnay/ . Test fixes are due each Monday.
CHARACTER EDUCATION -
Each month students should bring in an example of the monthly character trait to hang on our class bulletin board. April's trait of the month is COURAGE. Ask your child how they can show courage at school and at home. COURAGE bulletin board items are due on April 15th.
