DAVIES HIGH SCHOOL
EAGLES REPORT - SEPTEMBER 2022
Honor – Integrity – Pursuit of Excellence
GREETINGS, EAGLES!
What a great start to the school year it has been! I’m not exactly sure what to attribute this to, but I believe we are off to one of our best starts in several years. Huge shout out to all our staff and students for making it a great start to the year.
Homecoming week will kick off with Coronation Monday, September 19, at 7:00 pm in the auditorium and will conclude with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 24, from 8:30-10:30 pm. Between these days we will have a week full of activities here at Davies. If you have not had an opportunity to cheer and support our student athletes, I encourage you to find an activity this week to come support our kids.
One of the many things that makes Davies High School such a great place for kids to learn and grow is the many different activities students can be a part of. Involvement in school activities has endless benefits ranging from leadership development, organization, communication, to simply having fun. On top of the many opportunities students have in athletics and theater arts, there are about 50 different clubs, groups, and organizations for kids here at Davies High School. With Davies clubs and activities ranging from Science Olympiad, Art, World Languages, FCCLA, DECA, Philanthropy and Youth, and Clay Target to name a few, I have no doubt there is something out there for everyone. If you or your child has any interest or questions about joining these clubs, have them start by checking the message board or visiting with a club advisor, administrator, or counselor.
The first round of parent teacher conferences this fall will be held the evenings of September 28 and October 3 from 4:30-7:30 pm. More information will come out as we approach these important dates for parents.
Eagle Hour is open for all students every day at 8:00 am. Eagle Hour is simply a block of time each morning from 8-8:40 am where students can meet individually with their teacher or para to get academic help for anything they need. If parents have any questions about this please call administration or your child’s classroom teacher.
Thank you,
Go Eagles!

Davies High School Assistant Principal

This photo must follow the guidelines and rules from school policy, dress code, and law. Not following these guidelines will result in the photo not being allowed in the yearbook and the student will be asked to submit a different photo.
- Subjects including promoting the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, drug paraphernalia, guns, weapons, or depiction of violence may not be worn or shown in the photo.
- Photos with accessories (i.e. hats, scarves, jewelry), props (i.e. sports equipment, musical instruments, cars), and domesticated pets are allowed as long as they do not promote or condone illegal activity.
- The subject of the photo should be the student, not the props or background. (Yearbook staff prefers head and shoulder photos.)
- Violating school dress code, policies, and/or behavior codes
- Displays of drugs, tobacco, alcohol, gambling, or weapons of any kind
- Inappropriate gestures, facial expressions, postures, or hand gestures
All photos submitted must conform to school standards and policies and if needed, may be subject to review or approval by, but not limited to the yearbook staff, the yearbook advisor, and the school administration.
The yearbook staff reserves the right to edit or deny any submitted photo for publication and printing in the book.
The yearbook is a school publication, supervised by a student media advisor, and shall be reviewed by an administrator if the publication goes against school policy. (NDCC Ch. 15.1-19-25)
Digital Photo Requirements: All photos must be at 300 dpi in resolution and at least 1.5 by 2 inches in size. Davies Yearbook Staff can crop original pictures if needed. Screenshots of pictures should not be submitted. Pictures need to be saved as a JPG file. Picture files must be named with the senior’s last name and then the first name (ex: Smith_William.jpg).
NURSES CORNER - Headaches
Headaches in children are common and usually aren’t serious. Children can develop different types of headaches, including migraines or stress-related headaches. Children can also have chronic headaches. In some cases a headache can be caused by an infection, high levels of stress or anxiety or minor head trauma.
Most headaches aren’t serious, but seek prompt medical care if you child’s headaches:
- Wake your child from sleep
- Worsen or becomes more frequent
- Change your child’s personality
- Follow an injury, such as a blow to the head
- Feature persistent vomiting or visual changes
- Are accompanied by fever and neck pain or stiffness
Headaches in children can usually be treated with over the counter pain medication and healthy habits such as a regular schedule for sleeping and eating. Some simple tips to help prevent headaches would be to practice healthy behaviors such as getting plenty of sleep, staying physically active, eating healthy meals and snacks, drinking up to eight glasses of water daily and limiting caffeine.
Another prevention tip is to reduce stress. Be alert to things that may cause stress in your child, such as difficultly doing schoolwork or strained relationships with peers. It would also be helpful to keep a headache diary to help determine what may be causing the headaches.
Avoiding headache triggers will also help prevent headaches. One example of a trigger could be food or drinks with caffeine that seem to trigger headaches. Finally follow your health care providers plan.
