Planning for In-Person Learning
IPSD 204 continues to monitor county Covid-19 school metrics. Please be sure to read any communication from the district regarding official return to in-person learning details.
Currently, our tentative return to in-person learning (aka Hybrid schedule), is scheduled for the week of November 16th. In the event that this start date holds, our team will be taking steps to prepare for the new hybrid schedule. On Monday, Nov. 9, students in grades K-2 will be provided with alternative learning activities. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, students in grades 3-5 will be provided with alternative learning activities. This serves two purposes. First, we would like to provide our students with a few hours away from screen time to explore alternative learning activities. Secondly, we are making a significant change in how we are serving students. In order to be prepared to provide high quality instruction for our remote, in-person and independent learners, we want our teachers to have this time to collaborate. Our teachers continue to do their best to ensure the success of each student. Thank you for your continued support. Please see the weekly communication from your child's teacher for specific information.
*Dates are subject to change if transition to in-person learning is delayed.
PTC Sign Up Opens TOMORROW 11/3

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students - Recorder Orders DUE Nov. 2
Dear 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students and Parents:
Welcome back to another year at Kendall Elementary School! We have had a wonderful start to the school year Zooming in Music!!
As a part of your child’s musical education, we begin playing the recorder in third grade. This will be an ongoing part of our music study through fifth grade. The recorder program is meant to compliment what the children are already working on in music, such as rhythm, form and melody. They will also be learning how to read music with the recorder! All students will need their own recorder. To ensure a consistent sound, we would appreciate that you order the recorder through the school. We know that the children will find this to be an exciting part of their music program.
The recorder costs $7.25. Please pay through PushCoin. Remember that the recorder is for your child to keep and will need to be brought to every music class. If you have a recorder from a previous child, you do not need to purchase a new recorder. All orders must be placed by Monday, November 2. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at kari_rothmeyer@ipsd.org.
Sincerely,
Kari Rothmeyer

Welcome to New Kendall Families!
We have many unique and wonderful programs at Kendall and so much information for new parents to learn, and we want to make it easier and less overwhelming for you!
Please feel free to reach out to Tushima Bhatia at tushimaj@gmail.com and you will be connected with a mentor to discuss any questions/concerns you have and they will be happy to guide you into the right direction. We are continuously adding more mentors, many who speak multiple languages that represent the Kendall community. Kendall Elementary School is a wonderful place to learn and we hope you will discover that as you explore our community!
Mentor Parents Needed for New Kendall Families
Please let us know if you are available to serve as a mentor parent for a new family joining the Kendall Community (whether they are enrolling in Kindergarten or any of the grade levels). Please also consider if you are fluent in another language so that we can partner you with a family who speaks that language.
