Notes and Reminders
Last Call for Strategic Plan input!
Our Strategic Planning surveys close this Sunday, November 19th. We encourage all parents to participate in this important process that asks about topics including school climate, communication, academic program, and social emotional skills. These brief surveys are primarily multiple choice, but also provide for open-ended answers. Thank you in advance!
Workshops for parents and caregivers from the RNUFSD and ESS:
This year, our district has partnered with Effective School Solutions to enhance our culturally inclusive mental wellness and behavioral support programs that improve and strengthen outcomes for students. In the coming weeks and months, we will be hosting in-person and virtual workshops of high interest to parents. Please watch for future dates and descriptions in mailings and on our district website.
A Note form the School Nurse~🤧
It's cold and flu season! According to the NYS Health Services website, parents should follow these guidelines when determining when their children should not be in school.
Persistent fever greater than 100° degrees orally, including a fever that requires administration of medication such as Tylenol or Motrin
Vomiting or diarrhea
Significant cough that makes a child feel uncomfortable or disrupts class
Sore throat that is severe, accompanied by fever or feeling ill
Red, teary, itchy eyes that distract child from learning
Discolored nasal discharge, accompanied by facial pain or headache
Ear pain or drainage from the ear
Headache, especially with fever
Any condition you think may be serious or contagious to others
Children should be fever free (without the use of fever reducing medicine), symptom free and feeling well for at least 24 hours before returning to school after illness. To report an absence/illness, please email: dwattendance@ryeneck.org the morning of the absence. A doctor’s note will be requested for any student who has been absent for 5 consecutive days, upon return to school.
Spotlight on Learning
Classes experienced a close encounter with many unique animals! Animal Embassy visited Daniel Warren as part of our PTSA STEAM programming- thank you to Amy Bennett for coordinating. The presentation focused on animal adaptations and their habitats. Did you know that not all frogs hop?
Math time in KLW
Thank you to our RN groundsmen and our custodian, Mr. Brian, for adding new mesh and soil to our nursery. Please help reinforce that children do not play in the nursery, as we're preparing to plant lettuce (and more) this spring!
