Lion Leader Cards
We all know that this is an unprecedented year, and we are continually impressed with all of the students at Lakeview. They have demonstrated amazing character, flexibility and cooperation as we move through these uncharted waters. As a way to recognize students who go above and beyond, or demonstrate exceptional character, we are starting our " Lion Leader" awards.
During the school year, any staff member can nominate a student for a "Lion Leader" award by completing a Lion Leader card. There is no limit to the amount of nominations a student can receive and they can be nominated by more than one staff member.
Once a student earns a " Lion Leader" award, the student will come to the office and make a positive call home with one of principals and we will share with the family why the student was nominated. We hope to share the photos of our winners each month through our display in the hallway, as well as on our social media pages. We are extremely proud of the positive actions these students are taking while here at Lakeview and can't wait to start recognizing them for all of their hard work and effort!
Picture Retake Day
Virtual Academy retake day is still in the process of being scheduled. A date will be shared as soon as we are able to finalize this.
Transportation Update
The district determined that rotating "closed" routes would minimize the impact on a single cohort of students and families. If your child's bus will be impacted, you will receive a phone call, a text, and an email from Kimberly Boix the night prior to inform you that your child's route will not run the next day. Typically, both the AM and PM routes are impacted and your child will need transportation both to and from school. These messages have been going out around dinner time. If you do not receive any communication, your route will run as usual.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as our Transportation team works to manage this issue. We recognize that this presents challenges to parents and families, and want to assure you that Transportation is working hard to fill these gaps and provide transportation for all children who require it.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
- Please review the arrival/dismissal maps- as these will indicate where you will need to go when you arrive each morning and afternoon.
- Students are not allowed to be dropped off before 8:05 each morning. We do not have adequate supervision before this time and this poses as a safety concern for students who are left unattended. We do have a before and after care program available if you are unable to drop off or pick up your child during arrival and dismissal times. Please contact tanyakirkpatrick@wsdr4.org if you would like additional information about the before/after care program.
- In order to maximize our space, please pull your vehicle as close as you safely can to the vehicle in front of you.
- Pull all the way to the stop sign if you are in the front of the line before letting your child out or before picking them up. This allows more people to fit in the line at one time.
- Each row will be dismissed in the order that they arrive. We will work diligently to ensure that every row is dismissed in a timely manner.
- Please remember that our school is a tobacco-free campus and we prohibit the use of any tobacco substances while waiting in line to pick up or drop off your child.
- We have made every effort to ensure that we have staff members present to direct you where to go, however if a staff member is not present, please refer to the map to determine which row(s) should fill first, second, etc.
We understand that wait times may be longer than normal. Please be patient with us as we work to ensure a safe experience for you and your child. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we continue to improve our procedures!

Face Coverings & Masks
The District has received a number of questions about masks during recess and other times of day. To clarify, masks are required if social distancing cannot occur, but building administrators and staff are encouraged to schedule opportunities for recess and outside activities that would allow for social distancing.
The same can be said for all areas: If you are less than six feet apart, masks are required for students and staff. If you are alone or more than six feet apart, mask breaks are permitted.
Additionally, we have received questions about gaiters specifically. Yes, there has been some guidance that neck gaiters are potentially not the best, but they ARE acceptable as a face covering.
At Home Screening Reminder
Please monitor your children at home before coming to school. If your child has any one or more of the following symptoms, please keep your child at home.

-New onset cough
-Difficulty breathing
-Headache
-Loss of taste or smell
-Sore throat
-Diarrhea

If your child or a child's immediate family member tests positive for Covid-19, or if you received direct contact notification from the health department regarding quarantine procedures for your student, please notify your school’s nurse of this information as soon as possible. WSD Provides Free Meals to Families
The WSD has announced that it will provide free meals for all students in the District beginning October 1, through December 31, 2020, or until available federal funding runs out. The meals are being provided regardless of eligibility as a result of the extension of waivers by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) related to the Seamless Summer Option program. This includes children ages 1-18 who reside in the Wentzville School District boundaries but are not enrolled in a WSD school.
Typically, the USDA provides reimbursements to school districts in order to provide free or reduced-price meals for students who qualify based on their family’s household income. The waivers related to income qualification that were implemented earlier this year are being extended as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, and in light of the exceptional circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
For parents whose children attend WSD schools in person: Beginning Thursday, October, 1, 2020, all students in the Wentzville School District will not be charged for breakfast or lunch. Please Note: This is only for a full breakfast or lunch, which must include a fruit or vegetable. A`la carte and premium meals (sold in middle and high only) will still be charged accordingly.
For parents whose children attend the WSD Virtual Academy: Meals can be picked up every Tuesday at one of the three high schools, Holt & Liberty from 12:00-12:30 and Timberland from 11:00-11:30. Please fill out THIS FORM, which opens on Wednesdays and closes on Fridays each week prior to meal distribution.

Virtual Academy Update, November 2020
Thank you for your continued support of the WSD Virtual Academy (V.A.)! This is definitely a new educational experience for all involved. Our staff has worked tirelessly to adapt and to make this a success. Continue communicating with your child's teacher regarding needs, concerns, and day-to-day struggles. Through active and communicative partnerships, we can best support our students and can help them learn and grow through this unprecedented situation.
As a reminder, attendance and participation are required, just as they are required of our in-person students. If your child cannot participate that day due to illness or due to factors beyond his or her control, please communicate this to your child's teacher and please utilize the absence reporting email listed below. Chronic absence and non-participation creates challenges for our students and can create learning gaps. If V.A. is creating challenges that you are struggling to work through, your child's teacher is a great point of contact.
If absences and non-participation become frequent, our building counselors and administrators will contact you to offer support and to discuss next steps. We know that every family chose V.A. based on their own unique circumstances, and we will continue to be understanding and to extend grace and patience when it's needed. However, children need to participate in learning in order to be successful, and if problems have arisen that have created barriers to this, then we will partner together to solve them.
We appreciate your support with this, and thank you again for all you are doing in this new learning environment!
Reporting Absences for Virtual Academy Students
You may contact your child's teacher directly for "make up" assignments and work expectations.
