AVHS Veteran's Day Video Streaming at 9:05am on Thursday, November 11th
Once again this year, AVHS will honor our Veterans with a virtual celebration which will be viewed by all students during an Extended Advisory/P2 on Thursday, November 11th). Although our virtual celebration will look a little different this year, we want to continue to honor and celebrate those important people in our lives who have served.
Thank you to our Assistant Principal, Mr. Buesgens, and our Video/Media Specialist, Mr. Dodge, for making this program possible. I also want to thank Apple Valley American Legion Post 1776, Superintendent Kreger and other members of the cabinet, the AVHS Wind Ensemble, Valley Select Chorale, student speakers, and AVHS Staff. A final shout-out goes to social studies teacher, Nick Erickson, and the Interact Club are collecting “Thank You” cards that are written by students again this year. That special touch brought so much joy to those at the American Legion and area Senior Centers.
The Veterans Day program will be available on the AVEagle Media Youtube page at 9:05 am on Thursday, November 11th. It will also be available after the fact on the AVEagle Media Youtube page afterwards.

Hall Sweeps
Apple Valley High School will continue to conduct random hall sweeps throughout the remainder of the year with greater consequences. We are asking you for your partnership in emphasizing the importance of being in class on time and ready to learn.
For the first offense, students will be given a warning. If students are found in the halls a second time, their parents will be alerted and the student will be issued a detention.
You can check your student’s attendance (tardies & absences) in Infinite Campushttps://district196mn.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/district196.jsp

COVID-19 Notification
If you or a household member develops COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home, contact your physician and call our school nurse, Lori Henke, at 952-431-8220. Contact our School Nurse, Lori Henke, at 952-431-8220 or by email at lori.henke@district196.org
What If My Student Tests Postive for COVID?
Anyone experiencing illness should follow the Minnesota Department of Health Recommended COVID-19 Decision Tree, stay home, and are strongly recommended to get tested. If a person tests positive for COVID-19 and has symptoms, they should stay home and isolate for at least 10 days from the time the symptoms begin until symptoms have improved AND they have been fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medication. All families are required to report their student(s) positive test results to our school nurse, Lori Henke, by calling 952-431-8220
Common to other illnesses, once our nurse is notified of an extended absence, she contacts our Assistant Principal, Pete Buesgens, who in turn reaches out to teachers to let them know that the student will be working on school from home and to ensure that all assignments are available in Schoology, or to make arrangements if assignments need to be sent home or picked-up as needed. We do not share private data about the health condition unless it is pertinent to the class activities.
Mask Reminder
A reminder that all students, staff, and visitors are required to wear a face mask indoors when inside District 196 buildings. This includes if you are coming into the building during school hours or attending a volleyball game, conferences or any indoor event in the evening.
Face masks are optional for outdoor events.
