Aspen High School
December Newsletter
From Principal Tharyn Mulberry
Dear Aspen High School Parents and Students,
Happy Holidays to you all! I sincerely hope that each and every one of you will have a safe and festive holiday. Remember that students will be dismissed on December 20th and will not return until January 6th.
I would like to share some changes in staffing that will occur starting Monday in the main office. Anne Maloney, our Attendance Secretary and Amanda Trendell, our Athletic Program Coordinator, will be leaving Aspen High School to pursue other interests. On behalf of the high school, I wanted to thank them both for a job well done, and wish them much success in their future endeavors. I would also like to welcome Natasha Linn, our new Attendance Secretary, and Larissa Bohn, our new Athletic Program Coordinator, to our team.
As always, call me or stop by my office if you have any questions or concerns. Parents thank you for your continued support and dedication to this school, our success would be impossible without it!

News From SEE (Social, Emotional, Ethical Learning)
News from SEE (Social, Emotional, Ethical learning)
“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn
Please remember, the purpose of SEE learning is to help students explore and investigate how they can best take care of themselves and each other, specifically with regard to their emotional and social health. This will allow students to flourish and make sound decisions that benefit themselves and others. Here is a quick glance at the purpose of the SEE curriculum.
On 11/6/19 the students had their third SEE learning experience with their Experiential Education groups. The learning objectives are to notice that the training of attention can be involved in any activity we do. In order to practice, we had an exercise on mindful eating and focusing our attention on an object.
On 12/11/19 students will have their fourth SEE learning experience with their Experiential Education groups. The learning objectives are to recognize acts of compassion in their day, recognize interdependence as a feature of our shared reality, and recognize how the objects and events that we need come from the acts of countless others.
