Reminder of Positive Praise and High Expectations Recordatorio de elogios positivos y altas expectativas
This fall, students have learned expectations and routines, and systems are in place to keep everyone focused on learning and having some fun, too! With the weather turning and as we head into November and December, the darkness and rain, along with a series of no-school days often impact student decision-making. This is a great time to revisit our building-wide expectations:
Positive Recognition-
Here are the ways we positively recognize and praise students for expected behavior and going above and beyond
- Cougar Cards
- Positive Principal Visits
- Student Giveaways
- Skill-Builder of the Month Awards
- Class Cougar Awards
- Positives and praises as much as possible!
Here are ways that we respond to unexpected behavior and/or repeated misbehavior as written in our Tiers of Behavior Management:
- Student coaching and re-teaching
- Student Solution Sheet as a "talk-through" reflection and restorative effort. These are communicated to families to keep everyone looped in.
- Minor referrals are documented as part of student record, and families are notified of event and its result.
- Major referrals become part of the student record, and may result in loss of privilege, removal from class, a family re-entry meeting and a restorative act.
Our goal in all of these processes is learning. Our social-emotional work teaches students self management, self awareness, responsible decision making, social awareness and relationship skills.

Family Conferences Conferencias familiares
Please arrive on time to ensure that each family is able to take advantage of the entire conference window; conferences are often back-to-back and they fly by! This helps us keep on track. If you have questions about your student's conference, please contact the teacher directly.
