How is it Transmitted? What are the symptoms?
HIV is transmitted through bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, or breast milk. You CANNOT get it from saliva or sweat. One of these fluids has to touch an opening on your body for you to get this virus, such as a cut, through your mouth, vagina or even anus. there are often very few or no symptoms but some include fever, headache, swollen glands, tiredness, aching joints. and sore throat.
Is there a cure?
There is currently no cure, but there are treatments available for people living with HIVs or AIDs. Instead of one medicine it is a combination of medicines. This combination is called a 'cocktail'. These are used to strengthen the immune system. People are now able to live with HIVs for many years.
How can I prevent getting HIVs?
There is no sure way to abstain from getting infected other then practicing abstinence and only using clean needle. Although, you can better protect yourself by always using protection while having sex. This includes oral and anal sex.
