Percussion Stuff

March 25-April 2

Schedule Stuff

Welcome Back to school everyone. I hope your Spring Break gave you a needed rest. As we finish up the year, we want to remember to finish strong. It is our goal to have the integrity to perform as well on the Spring Concert as we did for Festival, even though we have no judges. With that being said, we have a new set of music to attack while keeping up some of the older stuff.

This Friday night, March 27, in Gym A at 7:30 pm, the South High Winter Guard is doing a showcase rehearsal and performance. It would be really great if the gym had a lot of people in it. We want to invite you to come out and support the students who have been working hard in the marching band "off-season."

Monday, March 30--I need to know if students who received a I at the St. Louis Suburban Solo and Ensemble Festival cannot attend the State Festival on May 2 at the University of Missouri Columbia, in Columbia MO. I have to register the students so I do not yet know what time performances will happen. If you are in an ensemble and cannot go due to another school event, please let me know immediately as we could possibly find someone to learn your part so the rest of the ensemble can participate.

Wednesday, April 1 is a late start day.

Friday, April 3 there is no school that day.

Big Upcoming Events

In Class Expectations

I would like to reiterate the importance of coming to class with notes and rhythms worked out. If each student does not do the work to live up to his or her potential, then the group cannot live up to its potential. Each time we work on anything, we should be working to our full potential.

So, both classes should be working on the Star Spangled Spectacular from A - B and Comic Relief from B - C. There will be a playing test on Monday and Tuesday on these things. Then 2nd block will also be tested on Death By Oooga Booga 31-41 on Wednesday and 5th block will be tested on Chopsticks Tango - E on Monday.

This is all that is going on and in order to meet our performance goals, students will need to come to class each week prepared to perform the listed parts.

Questions?

If you have a favorite music joke, I'd like to hear it. We are looking for good, clean jokes for an upcoming concert. If you have one you'd like to share, send it to me.
