Let's Celebrate All That Husky Pride!
Students learned about this incentive party during the Friday advisory time on Friday, October 27th. Only tardies that have been earned AFTER the announcement will count.
The party will last for one hour during the last day of the quarter - an early release day - and will be separated by grade level. Student input was asked for the incentive party ideas! Out of 806 total students at EMS, there were only 287 late-to-class tardies from 1st quarter, so we can do this! Our goal is to have ALL students celebrating!
The concession stand will be open during this fun time, so don't forget to bring some money!

Updates From the District
Strategic Planning:
The Strategic Planning Committee is reviewing feedback from a community forum and a District-wide survey about priorities and strategies for the next five years. Approximately 75 people attended the forum, and the District received 685 online survey responses. Consultants from the University of Kansas Public Management Center compiled the results into a report for the committee to review. View the summary report of the feedback: http://www.raypec.k12.mo.us/DocumentCenter/View/14438
The Committee met on Nov. 28 to review strategies and action step statements to include in a draft plan to be reviewed by the Board of Education in December. You can read more about the Strategic Planning process.
Community Mourns the Passing of Long-time Superintendent:
Retired School Superintendent Donald Shull passed away Dec. 4, 2017.
Mr. Shull was the beloved superintendent of the Raymore-Peculiar School District from 1966 to 1984, and is the only person to have a district school named after him. In August, he and his wife, Rose Ann, attended the ceremony as the school was re-dedicated as Shull Early Learning Center.
In 2014, the Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation presented Mr. Shull with the inaugural "Partner in Education" award at the Foundation's Gala.
Mr. Shull began his career in education in 1948 teaching all eight grades at Owsley School, a rural school in Hickory County. Throughout his career, his motto was "We'll do what's best for the kids."
He was known for his practical approach to problem solving, his sense of humor, and commitment to people. In additional to his involvement in educational organizations statewide, he was active in the community. After retirement, he attended many Ray-Pec events and continued to be involved with the Optimist Club.
The visitation was Dec. 7 at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore. The funeral service was Dec. 8 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore. Burial was at Cross Timbers Cemetery, Hickory County, Mo.
