## Dear Parents,

We hope you're ready for some winter weather! As hunting season approaches, please remember to have your student complete a pre-approved absence form if he or she will be missing school for an extended absence.

We want to reassure you that we are doing our best to fight germs in our classrooms by disinfecting desks on a daily basis. Additional hand sanitizer has also been ordered.

## English

We will be creating projects this week about the books the students have been reading. They will be linking electronic resources to their books as well as writing about them. Students can access the weekly vocabulary list on Quizlet or get a paper copy from Mrs. Garver. This week we will be studying list 4.

## Social Studies

We will go over the unit test from last week. The focus of this week's homework will be Veterans Day. Students should be working on their weekly homework using Edmodo and Notability.

## Math

On Monday, students will continue working with simplifying algebraic expressions. They will also learn about using inverse operations to solve equations. On Tuesday, students will be taking a formative assessment. They will also learn how to solve one-step equations. On Wednesday, students will be solving both one and two-step equations. On Thursday, students will continue to practice two-step equations. On Friday, students will take another formative assessment. This will cover one and two-step equations. Note: The next summative assessment is scheduled for December 10th.

## Pre-Algebra

We will begin this week with working on improving on simplifying roots with variables. Many students still need to work on this concept. Afterwards, students will be exploring properties of exponents. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be solving equations with perfect squares and cube roots. Students will then be taking a formative assessment. On Thursday and Friday, students will be reviewing for the Unit 2 test. The Unit 2 Summative Assessment is scheduled for Monday, November 17th.

## Yearbook

Help! We need pictures for the middle school yearbook. If you have some to share, please send them to Mrs. Bamberg. We are especially looking for seventh grade volleyball pictures.

## Junior National Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society is helping raise money for annual Charlevoix Community Christmas Project. Each student is asked to try and donate ONE Dollar and earn points for the Class "Sweet" Competition next week. The winning class will be rewarded for their generosity with a table full of baked goodies from the NJHS. The 7th grade class may be small, but it can be mighty by working together to help a good cause and defeat the upper classes!

## Calendar

Monday: Boys' Basketball at East Jordan

Wednesday: Boys' Basketball home vs. Elk Rapids

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Sincerely,
