Library News
Have you heard??? Our library is now fully OPEN!!! We love💗 that our space is full of students again. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, come in and see us soon. We have new books on display and more on the way.
We have joined the Project Lit Community, a national, grassroots literacy movement—a network of dedicated teachers and students who are committed to increasing access to culturally relevant books and promoting a love of reading in schools and communities across America. Our goal is for as many of our students as possible to check out and read as many of the Project Lit books as possible throughout the school year. We will have special events in which students and staff can talk about the books, earn prizes, and a big celebration at the end of the year.
Looking for a book recommendation? Try this list of Awesome Books that Students Will LOVE!

A/B-Day Schedule - New This Year
We are instituting an A/B schedule this year. Students will attend half of their classes on A-days, and the other half on B-days. The first day of school is an A-day, Thursday, August 19. The next day will be a B-day, Friday, August 20. Click here for the A/B schedule for the entire school year.
Handley Parking Permits
Students are permitted to park on school premises as a matter of privilege, not of right. If you are going to be driving to school for the 2021-2022 school year and parking in the Handley parking lot, you must obtain a parking permit. Below you will find instructions on how to register your car and obtain a parking permit.
Vehicle’s year, make, model, & color
License plate number, Driver’s license number, & owner of the car
Paying for and receiving your parking permit
See the school treasurer (main office) to pay the $25 parking fee.
Take the receipt to the main office administrative assistants, and they will assign you a parking space and give you a parking permit.
Last: Hang the parking permit from your rear view mirror
The parking permit must be visible.
The permit will have a number on it. That number is your assigned spot for the year.
You may only park in your assigned spot during school hours. If you fail to park in your spot or break any parking lot rules, you may lose your privilege to park in the lot and on school property.
Attendance
- Prompt daily attendance is an expectation of all students and affects our school accreditation.
- School begins at 8:25 am and dismisses at 3:15 pm on a regular school day.
- Advanced notification (handwritten or online attendance form submission) is required by the parent/guardian for all absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals per school board policy.
- We understand that sometimes there may be last-minute arrangements, however, to abide by our policies, parents will need to fill out the online attendance form or come into the school to sign the student out. Must bring valid identification.
- Students are responsible for their missed work when out of school. Communication from the student/parent should be initiated with the teacher to ensure that the student doesn’t fall behind.
- Refer to the chart below to see what is considered an excused absence vs. an unexcused absence.
For additional information about school attendance please visit our District Attendance Page.
