A Principal's Perspective
Yesterday I took a personal day to organize the Aggie Moms' Howdy Tea on the Texas A&M campus. Our "tea" was in the press box of Kyle Field! What a view! I got to meet and took the opportunity to talk with President Young about Texas A&M and how much we appreciate the partnership of the university with our local schools. I gave him examples of these great partnerships like OPAS performances that our students attend, storytellers and authors visiting campuses, STEM outreach to the community, field trip opportunities, guest speakers, professional development opportunities, etc. I was able to share with him the awesome things happening at GP as well. As he spoke to the Aggie Moms, he talked about the exciting things happening at Texas A&M such as the new classroom space being built, transformational learning/ discovery/ innovation and service to others as an integral part of a student's learning experience on campus, leading the charge to address safety issues for students and of course getting over 2 million hits on Facebook about the Aggie vs Clemson game which increased the universities' national exposure. As he talked, it made me think about our story. What story do we intentionally share with our community of parents, neighbors and businesses about the awesome things happening for our students at Greens Prairie? What a wonderful community that we live and work. A community that values education. A community that wants to hear about the success of their children learning at Greens Prairie Elementary!

For Boosterthon on Friday, the glow run will be held for each grade level during their CAMP time. Teachers need to be present to mark laps, run/walk with students and be those cheerleaders to excite and motivate the students. Specialists and SPED will choose 1 grade level to participate. Wear your Boosterthon shirt. If you are wearing your Boosterthon blue shirt, wear shorts or athletic wear.
- Before & After School Clubs: If you are coordinating a before or after school club, please let me know the day, time and start date of your club meetings. Past clubs have been duct tape club, chess club, running club, choir, REACH, BRAVE, art club and STEM club. Clubs are popular and well attended by our students. If you would like to start a new club or continue with your club from last year, please let me know.
