Fairy Tale Show & Tell
On Friday May 8th please have your child bring a fairy tale themed toy or stuffed animal to school. Students will use their toys/stuffed animals for a special activity on this day.
Once Upon a Time...
Over the last few weeks our students have enjoyed building castles at work time, discussing dragons, and reading classic stories such as The Three Little Pigs and Three Billy Goats Gruff. This interest inspired our theme of Fairy Tales for this week! This week we will read many classic fairy tales and other stories about dragons and castles. We will work on measurement, rhyming, and counting skills.
LAST WEEK'S ADVENTURES
Who is Your Favorite Author?
During large group time we asked everyone the question, "Who is your favorite author?" Our three choices were; Dr. Seuss, Mo Willems, and Eric Carle. After each student came up and placed their names under their author, we then counted results.
How to Build a House
At our small group, we practiced our construction skills, by measuring and drawing floor plans. Each student was given a ruler, pencil and paper (along with some blueprint examples). We had a lot of fun designing our own houses!
The Three Little Pigs
Another fun activity was our reenactment of the classic tale, The Three Little Pigs. We took turns building our houses out of straw, then out of "sticks." The students were most excited about building houses out of bricks and mortar (play-doh and blocks). After building each type of house we tested them to see if they would fall down or not.
Donations Request!
We are trying to get items together for our new Beauty/Barber Shop dramatic play box. If you have any old hair dryers, curling irons, straightening irons, etc, we will happily take them. PLEASE do not buy new ones for us!!!!! We are going to cut the electric cord off and allow the children to pretend play with them. Also, if anyone has hair curlers, empty shampoo bottles (especially the ones with a pump top, but any would be fine), a hair salon type cape, or other item that would be seen in a barber shop or hair salon, we would love it! Again, please do not buy anything new- just keep us in mind if you are cleaning out clutter or upgrading.
Field Trip!
Thank you to the parents that attended our Field Trip to Morgan's Wonderland!! We had so much fun and hope that you did too!!
