Class Swap
Last week, there was an exciting class swap between Food Safety teacher Lindsey Harlan and Bulldog Media Productions and IB Film teacher Rachelle Moore Nichols.
Ms. Harlan took on the role of teaching Bulldog Media Productions and IB Film Students some unique skills, including creating sugar glass, concocting fake blood, and crafting fake skin. These techniques will prove invaluable in their upcoming projects.
On the flip side, Mrs. Moore Nichols collaborated with Food Safety students, engaging them in the creation of stop-motion projects centered around kitchen safety. The students were tasked with filming scenarios depicting accidents, showcasing the first aid provided in response, and exploring how these accidents could have been prevented.
It was a dynamic exchange of knowledge and skills, enriching the learning experience for both sets of students!
Everybody had a wonderful time!
Disclaimer: NO REAL GLASS OR BLOOD WAS USED. :)
Sincerely,
Rachelle Moore Nichols
Family Shout Out
Mr. Salgado has worked tirelessly contacting parents and students about completing the F/R lunch application. Due in LARGE part to his efforts we have more students approved than we had at this time last year...GREAT JOB!!!
Mr. Gordon- a massive shoutout for bringing your guitar wizardry into rehearsal sessions with the men's chorus. You have turned our practice sessions into epic jam sessions that have everyone pumped up! Your guitar skills have added some serious edge to our rehearsals! You're showing our students that teaching isn't just about textbooks; it's about embracing your passions and sharing them fearlessly.
Hannah Mhoon - The Special Education Department would like to send a big shout-out to Hannah Mhoon for attending several IEP meetings and serving various roles on the committee without much prior notice. She has saved the department from rescheduling countless meetings!
PTO T-Shirt
We have some parents who have stepped forward to bring life back to our PTO! This is wonderful for our school and we are excited to see what they can work with us to achieve. They have created a T Shirt design to sell for a fundraiser. Take a look!

Bringing Tradition Back T-Shirt Order Form
The SHS PTO is doing a “Bringing Tradition Back” campaign by selling Bulldog shirts using the Bulldog mascot picture from the 1982 yearbook. 1982 represents the last year High School was held in the Old High Building. In 1982 our Bulldogs won state as the last year they were considered 4-A school. This campaign is to help continue the growth of our schools morale and school spirit. The money that is raised from this campaign will support more students attending athletic events, moving the homecoming parade back to Emma Street and engaging the community and feeder schools, raising the bar on school sponsored dances (including prom), and even starting some new traditions to celebrate seniors. Enter your information below to pre-order your Shirt (shirt preview below). Shirts are $20/each and you can order up to 3 per form. If you need more than that, please complete an additional order form. If you would like to provide additional support to your PTO, you can join the PTO with a $5 donation, just check the b

New Adjustment of Licensure Assessment Cut Scores
As a result of a review of Arkansas educator preparation and licensure requirements, the Arkansas State Board of Education has approved a standard error of measurement (SEM) adjustment on cut scores for eligible licensure tests. Beginning September 1, 2023, Arkansas’s passing score will be set two SEM below the recommended study value for eligible Praxis tests. See the Licensure Assessment Cut Score Chart. Individuals who have met the cut score found on the chart may now be eligible for licensure or admission into an educator preparation program. Contact the Office of Educator Effectiveness & Licensure ade.eel@ade.arkansas.gov for more information.
