COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Student Ambassador Information
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Jackson Elementary School is selecting two students per class in the 4th and 5th grades to serve on the Student Ambassador Team for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year. Student Ambassadors will assist with special events such as No Bullying Week, America Reads, PARRT Assemblies, and welcoming new students, and guest speakers. In addition, Student Ambassadors must attend monthly meetings and participate in our community service project (to be determined by the Ambassadors). Selected students must demonstrate a willingness to help others, have a desire to develop their leadership skills, maintain acceptable grades, and have appropriate conduct in the classroom and other areas of the school.
*If academic, behavioral problems or attendance arise during the school year, student privileges may be limited, including not participating in activities or being a member of the Student Ambassador Team.
Students who are interested in becoming a Student Ambassador must complete the entire application, including all three signatures required. They should return the form to Ms. Hansen or Mr. Cuebas.
The completed application is due by Friday, December 7, 2018. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted after this date. The selection process is competitive, and spots are limited. The selections will happen during the various grade level team meetings. The selection committee will base their decisions on the following: grades, classroom/specials teacher’ input, conduct, attendance, and student interviews.
If chosen, students will be notified the week of December 17, 2018 by the selection committee.

It's not to late to become a PTA member! Dues are $15/individual and $25/couple. Check can be dropped off in the office or brought to next PTA meeting.
PTA Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm (free childcare provided).

Parents, please don't forget to have your child fill a BoxTop form for the new monthly competition we have going on at Jackson.
Your child could win a $5 Orange Leaf gift card!
Forms can be found in front of the office, or you can print your own at home (half page is preferred).
Tape or glue 10 BoxTops on the form and return it in front of the office.
Please make sure your child's name and their teacher's name is on the form so we know who to reward.
The winner will be announced at the end of every month during morning announcements.

Scrip is looking for someone to help with the program next school year. Please contact Lori Weber at 319-551-5584 if interested or have any questions.
Next order is Mon, Dec 10th. Please have forms to the office by 9am that day. There will be an order every Monday until the winter break.
