Mattos Family Update
August 28, 2023
Back to School Night- TUESDAY!
Dear Mattos Families,
Tomorrow night we will welcome all parents/guardians to Back to School Night (please have children stay home- it's really a night for the adults). At 6:00 p.m., a welcome followed by PTA meeting will occur. After the PTA meeting, I will provide parents/guardians with an overview of our Mattos Family Handbook. You can take a sneak peek here. There is a lot of important information in the handbook, so I encourage you to take a peek when you have time. Important to note is that birthday "treats" may only be in the form of non-food items. Please discuss this with your child's teacher if you are planning to send something in for a birthday. Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Keller, and Mr. McLeod will then be presenting their information from 6:30-7:00 p.m. I will be available in Room 9 as well for parents/guardians of that classroom. From 7:00-7:30 p.m., kinder, first grade, second grade, and third grade parent/guardians will listen to presentations in their child's classroom (except all kinder will meet in K2). Our prep specialists, Mr. Colitz and Mr. Sandifer, will also be in their rooms if you would like to stop by before (grades 1-3) or after your presentation (grades 4-5).
As you walk around campus at Back to School Night, please notice how clean our facilities have been. I want to thank again our custodians Jovita and Jerry for their ongoing work. We are also seeing many students taking pride in our school by picking up litter that they see (A- Act Responsibly). If you have time to stop by our Book Faire, you can say hi to our wonderful librarian Mrs. Kim. We are also in the beginning stages of creating an outdoor learning space near Room 22. I would encourage you to stop by and see the progress. Out next step is to purchase edging for the tanbark area and have volunteers (any takers) install it. We are looking forward to utilizing this space with our students.
