The week of January 16th
Monday, January 16th - Martin Luther King Jr Day - NO SCHOOL
Wednesday, January 18th - Mass @ 10:00 am - FORMAL
Thank you to Ms. Felix & the 7th grade class for a very meaningful Prayer Service!
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights activist in the 1950s and 1960s. He led non-violent protests to fight for the rights of all people, including African Americans. He hoped that America, and the world, would become a colorblind society where race would not impact a person's civil rights. He is considered one of the great orators of modern times, and his speeches still inspire many to this day.
Some of the issues the march hoped to accomplish included an end to segregation in public schools, protection from police abuse, and to get laws passed that would prevent discrimination in employment. It was at this march that Martin gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. This speech has become one of the most famous speeches in history. The March on Washington was a great success. The Civil Rights Act was passed a year later, in 1964. Martin Luther died by assassination on April 4, 1968. His message continued to inspire others throughout the world.
Today the 7th-grade class honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a part of the famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

HELP KEEP SPARTANS HEALTHY!
We all know that in a school setting, germs are shared, no matter how careful we all are. Therefore THE BEST THING WE CAN ALL DO FOR EACH OTHER IS TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN HOME WHEN THEY ARE NOT WELL!
While sniffles or a mild cough are not uncommon in the fall, a best practice would be to keep your child home if they are experiencing:
-fever
-sore throat
-significant cough
-vomiting
-general feeling of being unwell
