October 2020

Message From The Principal

Dear Cardinal Families,

October is here! Our first month back at school is wrapping up and everything is starting to run smoothly. John Wooden once said, “Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” We must always have the courage to take risks to improve ourselves and to improve the work we do for our children and for our community. We as educators and parents must continue to help our students embrace the lessons of failure, however, not allow them to accept themselves as failures, but to learn and grow from the lessons. My failures and my acknowledgement of those failures have been my greatest teacher. My failures have shaped me into the person I am today, not perfect, but someone that learns from failure. If we continue to stay positive and continue to work towards improvement, success will be just around the corner.

Furthermore, I am excited to announce that this month we will be participating in a “College, Career, and Celebration” or “C3" all month long. This month is meant to encourage seniors to submit college applications, send in their high school transcripts to colleges, and begin to search and complete upcoming scholarship opportunities. On October 14, 2020, at the High School we will be offering the SAT and PSAT to all students. Also, on October 8, 2020, from 7 PM to 8 PM, we are planning a FAFSA Zoom meeting for parents of seniors. Click or copy and paste the link below to sign up for this important virtual meeting about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). During this meeting you will learn about the FAFSA process and how your student could qualify for scholarships, grants, and loans. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPCWgBJdrMxyroUELQGytf2YqAvffLPry-JniBRKCZVJ1qEw/viewform

Finally, please help me give a huge shout out to our amazing faculty at Davison High School. All of our teachers, counselors, administrators, secretaries, paraprofessionals, student co-ops, food service employees, bus drivers, custodians, security, and all other staff have been working non-stop to help make the beginning of this school year run smoothly. They are doing a phenomenal job to make sure our students at DHS are safe, and are receiving the best education they can achieve. Thank you to the staff of DHS for helping start this unprecedented school year! Take advantage of this time and lead a life with a positive growth mindset!

Be well, stay safe, and Go Cards!

Interested in Joining Yearbook?

We still have openings in Yearbook! This is a year-long publication class, and at the end students will have produced a completed yearbook. Students will utilize knowledge gained in all content areas and see how this knowledge applies outside the classroom. Students must possess strong writing, grammar, computer, and organizational skills and be able to work independently as well as in teams. Students are required to work after school in order to meet deadlines and required to sell ads to businesses in the community. Students are responsible for transportation for this requirement.

Please contact your counselor if you are interested in taking the yearbook class.
