Guest Readers Wanted during Read Across America Week!
Carolina Forest Elementary School is celebrating Read Across America Week February 28-March 4. We are so excited to engage our students in Camp Read A Lot as we go through the week. One way we are looking to spark our students’ interest in reading is through having guest readers read to classes throughout the week! If you are available, we would love to have you read either in person or virtually to a class of students. If you are interested, please fill out the following form so that we can work on scheduling your visit!
Thank you for considering reading to one of our classes! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year from CFIE!

Welcome Mrs. Laurido & Ms. Wurm to our EC Team and Eagle Family!
Hello everyone! I am Mrs. Brittany Laurido and I am excited to be starting my career as an EC Resource Teacher! I have lived most of my life in Harlingen, Texas. When I was 19, I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, California most of my enlistment and it is also where I met my husband who is still active duty. We have lived in California, South Carolina and now North Carolina with our two boys ages four and six. We also have three dogs Shadoh, Nugget and Pumbaa. We also have a kitten named Harvee.
After I got out of the Marine Corps in 2014, months later I became pregnant with my first child and from then until I graduated college, I was a stay-at-home mother. I have attended a total of 5 colleges. One in Texas, two in California, one in South Carolina and one here in North Carolina. It took what seemed like forever to graduate because of all the moving and transferring, but I am happy to say that on December 11, 2021, I finally obtained my bachelor’s degree from UNCW.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Katrina Wurm pronounced Vurm but since we aren’t in Germany, we just say it how it’s spelled. I was born and raised right here in Maysville NC. I have three children. One is in elementary and two in middle school. I have always loved working with children and spent years working pediatrics but my heart always leaned toward teaching. I have my associates in applied science and currently attending The University of Mount Olive for my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I love spending time with my family, anything outdoors, and traveling.
