HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 7 Friday 26 March
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In two sentences Bishop Curry leaves us with a major task. And one beyond all others. In this Easter season when we come to realise the sacrifice Jesus makes for us, the task is both huge and humbling.
Our Year Three gang excelled themselves at this morning's assembly. It was fabulous! Congratulations to them and their teachers, Giulia and Anthony.
Edudance concerts, parent teacher interviews and hot cross buns dominate next week! It is Holy Week, the most important time in the Christian calendar. Our children will be involved in the Stations of the Cross together as well.
Best wishes
Mark de Kluyver

Thank you for your generous support.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL YEARS THREE to SIX, WEEK ONE TERM TWO!
This is a fabulous event, which we look forward to. Our teacher of Physical Education, Rob Flexman has already organised holiday training squads for Years 4-6 at the Newman Pool, that many children have been signed up for. The holidays will also be an ideal time for children across all grades who are new to swimming carnivals to be taken for a swim in a bigger pool - there are plenty to choose from!
Gastroenteritis
Gastroenteritis, or ‘gastro’ is a common condition in children of all ages. It occurs when the bowel is infected by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and sometimes, fever. Gastroenteritis, or ‘gastro’ is a common condition in children of all ages. It occurs when the bowel is infected by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and sometimes, fever.
Most cases in children are not serious, but it is very important to make sure that a child with gastro receives enough fluid.
If your child has gastro, keep them away from school for 48 hours after vomiting and diarrhoea have stopped. If symptoms persist see your family doctor.
The easiest way to prevent gastro is to make sure everyone in the family washes their hands regularly, especially before eating and after going to the toilet.
Hand, foot and mouth disease
We have had a few cases of Hand, foot and mouth disease in the Lower Primary.
HFMD is a mild viral infection which is spread when a person touches the mucous or saliva of an infected person.
Signs and symptoms
The incubation period is usually around 3 to 5 days. The infectious period remains while there is fluid in the blisters.
HFMD usually begins with a mild fever and a runny nose. This is followed by a sore throat and the appearance of a blister-like rash in the mouth and on the hands and feet, which gradually become ulcerated.
Children should be excluded from child care, schools or other group settings until the blisters have dried.
How can hand, foot and mouth be prevented?
Wash your hands with soap and water before preparing food, after using the toilet.

LIBRARY NEWS
The Second Hand Book Sale for Project Compassion was a huge hit on Wednesday raising $102 for those in need. Thank you to our amazing Library Monitors for running the event and to our HR community for your donations and supporting this worthy cause. Everyone was a winner –Caritas was supported, books were recycled, the joy of reading out in the playground was delightful to see and everyone got a chance to Make Jesus Real. I was so impressed with children wanting to donate more than 20c or even donate without choosing a book. Thank you everyone for your kindness. Enjoy your books.
