Jots from Mrs. Jimison
Our Words
1 Peter 3:10 For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech."
Colossians 4:6 "Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
Proverbs 17:27-28 "The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues."
Proverbs 15:1-2 "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly."
There are many more verses that speak about the importance of our words. One thing I have done since I was a child was pray Psalm 19:14 as a daily prayer:
We work with students often, teaching them what right words sound and feel like. It would be great to follow up at home with a reminder how to speak respectfully and kindly, choosing words of purity, love, joy... rather than what I call "ugly" words.
Thanks for setting the godly example at home!
Chapel Review!
Thank you, Pam Walton, for speaking to our students in chapel this week. She also had the great idea of sending out chapel notes so that families may speak to their kids through the week about what they learned in chapel. Although I may not always follow through on this, I like the idea!
So - here are the notes from this week. The memory verse was 1 Corinthians 12:27 "You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it."
Mrs. Walton gave us a lesson about toys and the idea that when we play, we can tie it in to what we learn in the Bible. Challenge - ask your child about each of these toys and see if he/she can recall what the lesson was about!

Fire Update
Last week, I mailed off our first gift of money to the Redding STEM Academy to give to 3 families that lost homes in the Carr Fire. Our funds that we raise now through April will go to families that lost homes in Paradise. One such family is Jack and Rhonda Wright. Rhonda taught both of my children when I taught at Capital Christian. Jack was pastor of a church in Paradise and lost the church as well as their home. You may view a video of their church loss here: https://vimeo.com/302501879
