All Saints' Day Drop and Swap and More
All Saints' Day is fast approaching and we are thinking about costumes! Do you have any old All Saints' Day costumes/parts that you would be willing to donate to other families? If you do, please drop off your All Saints' Day costumes/parts donations the week of October 17. We will display them all during the week of October 24, starting at pick-up. Drop what you can, take what you need. After All Saints' Day, please hang on to this year's costumes/parts until next year's Drop and Swap.
NOTE: You do not need to contribute to the swap to benefit from the swap!
Fleece fabric request: As part of our All Saints Day community service project, we would like to make blankets for the Vermont Children's Hospital. We are requesting donations of fleece fabric, 2 yards each. If you are able to help us out, please send in the fabric during the week of October 24.
Thank you!

Did you know?
Each month, calendars around the world note different celebratory and commemorative themes and ideas? The US is certainly no exception with a whopping 1037 such designations – 203 of those are observed during the month of October alone!
DYK the fourth Saturday in October is National Make a Difference Day? Its the largest and longest-held national day for Good Deeds large and small!
DYK National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week is October 23–29? Lead exposure and lead poisoning are preventable. Here are a few references you may find helpful:

October is not just prime-time for leaf-peeping color, it is also a very purposefully pink-colored month! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the third Friday of October is National Mammogram Day.
About 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1000 men in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. Early detection is key to survival. Monthly breast self-exams are the best measure for early detection and are most effective when performed reliably on the same day each month (about 10 days after the onset of the menstrual cycle is recommended for menstruating women). If you feel as though you’ve found something abnormal for you, make a call to your practitioner for follow up. For more info visit NationalBreastCancer.org.
