September 21, 2020
Dear PV Families,
After our first full week of school, I need to highlight the fact that students have done such a great job building stamina in so many ways! At the start of school, students needed more direction and instruction regarding the newness of wearing masks all day and following new protocols across the school. As I move from classroom to classroom and in our lunchroom and at recess, I am seeing students engaging more deeply in learning because they are less focused on the structures of the day. For students engaging in learning in our virtual classes, I see higher engagement levels as well as students learning to better navigate movement between a google meet and other tabs on their computer screen.
As students work to be more independent, we see them reaching out to help each other both in and outside of the classroom. It is also great to see students encouraging each other through a kind word or action during a classroom activity, when practicing social distancing, or working to keep their masks up over their noses. I had a great reminder this week of how important it is to be kind when I had a few of our PV students stop by by house and give me the rock that you see pictured below. One side of the rock has our school name and a heart painted on it and the other has a mask painted and says, “Wear your mask people” with hearts decorated around the message. The message on this rock is a great reminder to me and to our school community that while we have new practices in place to keep everyone safe, we can give reminders to others in a gentle, caring way as we team up to learn together. #PVPanthersLearn
Have a great week!

FPS HEALTH UPDATES (VIDEO)
The video below was shared in the Friday Family Newsletter from the District, but we are sharing here in case you missed it. This is an update from our Superintendent, Dr. Judy Mueller, about recent COVID-19 cases in our schools and our nurses share how we approach situations when they arise. This is a really good video to watch so you can understand what happens when we have positive cases reported. Please watch.
LOST & FOUND
CLICK HERE to see pictures of the items in our lost and found. This year we will be purging lost and found items more often so it’s important for children to keep close tabs on their belongings. It is also suggested that if possible, student items be labeled with the first and last name on it so that we can get it back to the student if it becomes lost. Any items that are not collected by September 28th will be donated.
ATTENDANCE FORM & NEW PROCESS FOR ALL ATTENDANCE NEEDS!
It is essential to note that attendance is now reported using THIS FORM. The attendance form is also located as a button on the main school webpage and under the “Parents Information” section. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team. This form was designed to help us rapidly assess possible cases of COVID-19 so that we can mitigate the spread of the virus. After completing the form, you may receive a follow-up phone call or email from one of our health and nursing services staff with either follow-up questions or additional information.
This attendance form should be used to report ANY attendance need for any date(s)!

5K-5TH GRADE PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
We will be having Virtual 5K-5th Grade Parent/Teacher Conferences via Google Meet on Thursday, October 15th and Tuesday, October 20th from 4:30-8:00 pm respectively. We look forward to having you sign up for a 15-minute time slot on one of the above dates. Your student(s) teacher will then send you an email invite for your conference. Please remember that the best communication with parents is communication at the “right time” for the “right reason.” By combining traditional methods of communication with the use of technology, parents can be more up-to-date than ever regarding their child’s progress in school. Parents are encouraged to utilize all methods of communication available to be informed and active partners in their child’s educational experience.
If you have multiple children in the school, we recommend that you complete this process early for the best chance at grouping your conference times together.
We request that parents who live in separate households schedule just one conference with each child’s teacher. By attending the conference together, we are able to share the same information with both parents at the same time. If this will not be possible for your family, please contact Mr. Foeckler at 414-423-4650.
Please sign up for a virtual time slot from the dates that are provided. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
