Getting Back to Normal...

These past couple weeks have been a whirlwind with different events going on during school with Red Ribbon weeks and the Veterans Day program. We should be getting back to normal now. There are a few PTO events going on, as you can see below, but the school day will be back to normal.

I want to send another reminder to pay attention to the weather each day. We have had a few kids without coats on these colder days! When in doubt, send a coat please. Also, we are getting better at zipping/buttoning our own coats, but some kids still need practice. We are losing part of recess because I am having to zip up several coats. Thanks for your help with this!

If you were able to attend the Veterans Day program, I hope you enjoyed it. The kids did a nice job. It was a great way for us to show our thanks to the veterans that were able to attend.

A flyer about the Food and Toy Drive next week should be in your child's folder today! There is a classroom competition. Please read it for details.

A PTO Message about BOOK BINGO on Friday, November 20th

Our Book Bingo Coordinator, Sarah Smith, is planning a fun, family event for our school. We are excited to announce this one will benefit patients at Riley Children's hospital!

Book Bingo

Play Bingo to win Books!

Friday, November 20th, from 7-9 p.m.

South Creek Elementary Cafeteria

Instead of charging families admission to the event, we are asking for items to be donated to the Riley Cheer Guild to distribute to a pediatric patient. The items should be new, but don't have to be expensive! Something as small as a fast-food toy would even be welcome. The Cheer Guild just asks for them NOT to have buttons or batteries. For a list of ideas, please check out the Wish List.

In addition, we still have a need for books, which will be handed out as prizes to the participants at Book Bingo. If you have new or very gently-used books, please send them to school with your student, in a bag marked, "PTO". Your book donations are greatly appreciated! Our greatest need is for children's books for K-5th graders.

Finally, we still need volunteers to help make this event a huge success. Please visit the Signup Genius to see how you can help.

South Creek Sock Drive - - A Message from the SC PTO

Hello! South Creek is starting a Sock Drive for the homeless. HVAF (Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation) is a non-profit that provides housing and basic needs to the homeless veterans in Indianapolis. It is my hope that we - as a classroom, as a school and as a community - can collect new, adultsocks. An item so basic to our daily lives is an item in great need for the homeless.

Thank you in advance for helping with our cause. South Creek has such awesome families, there's no doubt we will make a success of our sock drive! Thank you for making the world a little bit brighter for others.

Let's "knock their socks off" at HVAF!
