Principal's Corner
Greetings and Saludos families of Justiss!
As we are rounding out and heading toward the end of our first 9 weeks I hope you have found your students enjoying school. The importance of an education and the love of learning is so important and a job not only for the school to instill in our students but also parents and guardians.
To assist you with talking about the importance of learning with your child, here are just a few tips that may help:
Let your child see how much you enjoy and value learning.
It is OK to not always have all the answers to your child’s questions, but it is important to show them you know how to find the answers.
Talk positively about the importance of education.
Learning builds confidence; a child who is confident is more open to opportunities to learn.
Focus on your students' learning strengths.
Make everyday a LEARNING day!
Whenever you can, encourage your child to explore the world around them, ask questions, and make connections!
Turn everyday into a learning day, at home, or wherever you may be!

Reneé Elmore

Counselor's Connection
Hi everyone! As we head into October, one of our busiest months of the year, I wanted to recap a few special activities your students were involved in as we closed out September. Throughout this month, we have been presenting a curriculum called, “Start With Hello!”. This program targets concepts of: inclusion of others, recognizing the importance of reaching out to all students, and ensuring that students are not excluded based on differences..., or for any reason. We also learned ways to be an upstander when someone is being mistreated. Some of the activities in our final “Hello Week” included:
Daily greetings with music at every entrance
Kick off assembly with a skit performed by some of our 4th graders
Daily announcements and virtual books on kindness and inclusion.
3rd & 4th graders did Rock painting, writing positive affirmations, used to build a “Kindness Rocks” Garden here at Justiss
A big Rainbow Art Display using every Justiss Student’s traced hand cut out, depicting a kind act, reminding students to be the “Rainbow in someone else’s cloud”. Look for photos on our Facebook page!
Reminder: All visitors must check-in with a driver’s license in the front office.
