A Little Project-Based Learning In 5th Grade...

Parents & Guardians:

We have now passed the mid-point of Term #1. Grades were posted in the Parent Portal last Thursday. Please take the time to review your child’s progress. Mr. Olson and I will be meeting with all of the students next week to focus on goal setting. It’s a great time to really help all students realize where they are both academically and behaviorally and write some goals to support the direction they want to go. Sometimes the simplest goals can be achieved if you have a focus and a plan. This simple self-assessment phase always provides a benchmark. Administratively, we are very excited to have this conversation with the students and we are even more excited to help them all see that growth can be a continuous action.


Parental feedback is extremely important for our overall growth as a school. Every few weeks you will see a few questions provided within a parent survey format. Please consider offering us feedback, as we need to continuously evaluate ourselves. The surveys will be short and provide a platform for your overall opinion. Results will be shared with my Instructional Leadership Team. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Shepherd Hill Regional High School Informational Night at CMS


Please join us on Tuesday (Changed), October 16th at 6:30 p.m. in our auditorium for a night to celebrate all of the great things happening at Shepherd Hill. Presenters will be on hand to highlight programs and opportunities for your child. Please come and ask questions and hear of all the great things happening at your high school. 5th & 6th Grade Leadership Team


Mr. Packard will once again be creating an opportunity for any 5th or 6th grade student looking to learn about leadership and community. This leadership team will meet on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. If your child is interested in taking part in the opportunity, please submit your child’s name on the link below. Be Better Club


Charlton Middle School is starting a Be Better Club. Last year this club was known as Random Acts of Kindness Club. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 10th from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Please sign up in the main office. Community Connections Project


It’s that time of year again when we take on the initiative of helping out others. Our annual Donation & Food Drive will take place from Monday, October 1st – Friday, October 26th

This year we are attempting to raise enough money to feed families in need or collect enough non-perishable food items to do the same. The goal is to fill my office with as many food items as possible and collect enough money to purchase food through a special program for families. I will work with my Leadership Team to meet these goals. If you want to donate money, please make checks payable to: CHIP-In. We will have a donation tub in our main office and in the cafeteria for additional donations. I will keep everyone updated as we move toward this goal. Parent Teacher Organization’s Fall Family Funfest – Friday October 19th 5:00 pm – 8:30 p.m.


Please join us for a night of fun on Friday, October 19th as our PTO presents its annual Fall Family Funfest. Come enjoy the cakewalk, costumes, food, shows and much more. It’s a great time for everyone. Click the link below for more details:

Music Parents Association Information


MPA is once again conducting their annual Fall fundraiser. Parents can purchase the following items: pies, cookie dough and pastry braids. After School Programs


We are excited to announce our after school programs for the first half of the school year. Please take time to review our offerings below. School Breakfast


Students can purchase a light breakfast for $1.50. The breakfast will be served each day in our cafeteria and is open to all students. The breakfast consists of a variety of options, including:

Assorted Juices

Cereals

Whole Grain Pop Tarts

Blueberry Muffin

Chocolate Milk / Milk 1% / Lactaid and Soy


Bay Path Tours (Grade 8 only)


8th grade students will be touring Bay Path on Friday, October 12th from noon until 2:00 p.m. If you have any questions pertaining to this, please contact our 8th grade counselor, Mr. Daley at mdaley@dcrsd.org
