MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
What a great day we had on Monday! Our Halloween festivities were a big success. Thank you to all families who were able to make it out to the Halloween parade on Monday afternoon. I know our students love to be able to show off their costumes, so we appreciate you for joining us! Special thanks to all of the parents and guardians who volunteered to organize and lead our Halloween classroom parties after the parade ended as well. The parties were so much fun for our students! They truly enjoyed having the opportunity to celebrate together with the fun games, crafts and activities that were planned. We appreciate your time and creativity!
Believe it or not, today marks the end of the first trimester of this school year. Teachers will be working on finalizing student report cards next week and we will send these home with students on Friday, November 11th. If you have any questions about the report card, please reach out to your child’s teacher. We will also be sending home IAR score reports from last spring with our fourth and fifth grade students and MAP reports with all students for your review.
Thank you to all parents and guardians who attended parent teacher conferences on Tuesday. The conversations we are able to have with you about your child’s progress and the plans we make together to support them are so valuable. We appreciate your time and attendance. If you haven’t signed up for conferences yet, we will hold them once again on November 10th and 15th from 3:40-6:40 pm. Use this link to sign up as we have some time slots still available. If you’d like to have a conference, but all time slots are taken, contact your child’s teacher to find another time when you could meet. If you tried this link last weekend and had some difficulty, we realized that there was an issue with the link that is now resolved. You can sign up for a conference up to four days prior to the day of each conference. If you have any questions or need support, please contact me or your child’s teacher. Also, I want to say thank you to Fairview's PTO for providing Jimmy John's sandwiches for staff to enjoy during their lunch break on Tuesday.
As you head into the weekend, take a moment to watch this week’s installment of the Fairview Elementary School News created by our Media Club. Thank you for taking the time to read through today’s newsletter. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal

Thursday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 15
From 3:40 to 6:30pm

DRESS FOR OUTDOOR RECESS
As the weather turns cooler, please make sure your children are dressed to go out for recess. Unless it is raining or the temperature /wind chill is too cold (15 degrees or below, real-feel temperature) the students will go out every day for recess. Please write your student’s last name on a tag in their coat as we already have a lot of lost coats and sweatshirts.
All students will go out with their class unless we have a doctor’s note limiting their participation. If a student has been ill and he/she is not feeling well enough to participate in all the activities of the school day, perhaps another day at home will insure a healthy return to school.

REMINDER FROM NURSE BRUNNING
This is a reminder that all medication, including cough drops or other over the counter medications require a Medication Form to be filled out by your child's health care provider. Medication is then to be brought to the health office by an adult so the nurse can administer accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kelly Brunning, school nurse at kbrunning@d57.org.
