Unit A Teacher - Rachel Blades
My name is Ms. Blades. I am a second year Unit A teacher. I am a Columbia College alumni. I decided to be a teacher because I love working with children and learning. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, pets, and friends. I also enjoy working out and coaching competitive softball.
Unit A Teacher - Caroline Giuseffi
Hello! I am a Unit A teacher at Ridgeway and a first year teacher! I am from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2021 with a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. When I am not at school, I enjoy cooking and going to the dog park with my dog, Louie. I have a twin sister who lives in Arizona, and I love to visit her whenever I get a chance! I have loved teaching at Ridgeway, and I am looking forward to a great rest of the school year!
Unit A Teacher - Amanda Horn
This is my fourth-year teaching in Unit A at Ridgeway Elementary and my seventh year in my teaching career. I am originally from Kansas City, Missouri, so before coming to Ridgeway I taught kindergarten at a small elementary school in the Grain Valley School District. I have been married to my husband Chris for five years, and together we have three children (Maxwell, Phoenix and Jordan). Next year, Maxwell will begin Kindergarten here at RWE, and Phoenix will follow the year after. When we aren’t busy chasing young children around, we love to travel, find new restaurants, and make memories with friends.
Fun fact about me: My family and I lived in Highlands Ranch, Colorado for one year before moving to Columbia in 2017.
Unit A Teacher - Alyssa Mincke
My name is Alyssa Mincke, and I teach Unit A. I have been teaching kindergarten for 10 years (6 years in Kansas City, 3 years in Chattanooga and 1 year in Jefferson City). I grew up in Jeff City, so when I had my daughter, Charlotte, two years ago I couldn't get back to my family in Missouri fast enough! My husband, Stephen, is a die-hard Razorback fan, and we have a dog named Sooie. I loved my time staying home with my daughter, but I missed teaching terribly and couldn’t wait to get back to the classroom, especially at Ridgeway! I am a coffee loving, headband wearing, crafting fanatic who loves the beach and the color pink!

Media Center News
The focus of media class in December is coding! Students in all Units are developing basic coding skills to prepare for December's Hour of Code initiative. They are using code.org, Scratch Jr., and Scratch before moving on to coding with robots and STEM learning tools. At Ridgeway, we have a variety of codable robots including Code and Go Mice, Ozobots, Dash and Dot Robots, Lego WeDo Kits, and Sphero Minis. These types of toys that promote science, technology, engineering, and math skills make fun gifts, but did you know you can also check out STEM kits from the public library?! For more information, visit Daniel Boone Regional Library website at https://www.dbrl.org/kits
Happy coding! ~Mrs. Munsterman
