The Infinite Sea

Rick Yancey

What I liked about the book

I liked how the story picked up right where it left off, but my favorite part about this book was the first half. In the first half it has all of the original characters and their story after the explosion. When they are at the abandoned house and Cassie still wants Evan to come back!I wanted him to come back too. This half is mainly about the group deciding what to do next. Should they keep moving or stay and wait for Evan? Everyone wants to keep moving, but Cassie is still wanting Evan to come back. The most EPIC part of this half of the book is the part with Pound Cake. He is awesome in his big scene. He is fight so hard, he gets shot 2 times, and the way the author describes the action is great! I re-read that chapter of his battle and it was just awesome. Also I love the writing in this book. It flows and it is easy to understand. I think, personally, Yancey is a great writer.

What I did not like

I did not like the second half of the book as much as the first half. I guess since it was just told Ringers prospective and it was different from the rest of the book. The story is just about Ringer and her adventure away from the group. In the second half of the book, it is more about details and characters.

Favorite quote

“It isn't that the lies are too beautiful to resist. It’s that the truth is too hideous to face.” -The Infinite Sea

Would I recommend it

If someone read the first book then I definitely recommend reading the sequel. It is a great continuation and in the second book there is more information about everything. From the characters, to the different waves, and what the Others are doing, there is just more about it in this book. I would recommend reading the first book before reading The Infinite Sea because I feel like it would make more scene and the story would flow easier. This book is a good example of the sy-fi and dystopian genre.
