Thought for the week
Encouraging and engaging discussion, debate and discourse.
I'm just looking, I'm not buying...
Come on we've all done it. Just a quick flick through while your waiting in the queue but think about it if you read a magazine in a shop is it stealing?
If I read a magazine or newspaper in a shop I've processed and digested the information. It leaves with me, inside my head. It belongs to me now and nobody can take it away from me. Its ok though; everybody knows to steal something to you need to physically remove it so this isn't the same, right? I left the magazine in the shop.
What about the author or journalist?
If they wrote it don't they deserve to be paid for the service they provided?
Billion pound industry
Magazine journalism is a multi billion pound industry in the UK alone so would it really matter if a few people read them without buying?
Got ethics? Or do we need to apply situational ethics?
Some might say stealing is stealing full stop. You can't pick and choose when you follow the right path you should strive to be good ALL the time.On the other hand it could be argued that the little things don't really matter.
What do you think?
