Raider Nation Staff Newsletter
Week of November 5, 2018
Greetings Raider Nation --
This week is a short week with school closed on Tuesday for Election Day and Wednesday for you to close out the quarter and finish grades. Wednesday may be used as a telework day for teachers (except those in their first year of teaching). It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of the first quarter! It only seems like yesterday I wrote my email introducing myself to you all. I want to personally thank each of you for making our start so great thus far.
Thursday, November 8 is our next session for Professional Learning held during PIP periods. The Student Support Team has been discussing and planning for the needs of the staff in terms of supporting our students. Sessions will be held all periods (except period 5) and will begin promptly at the beginning of each period in the Career Center.
Outcomes of the sessions include: Teachers will identify the process to refer students to various support teams at Atholton High School and be able to differentiate between time sensitive concerns and all other student concerns in regards to reporting and referring the concern. Certified staff members are required to attend; paraeducators and all other staff members are invited to attend.
Lastly, next week is American Education Week. Below is the message sent to families:
This year, American Education Week will be from November 12 – 16, 2018. The faculty and I invite you to accompany your daughter or son to classes during a regular school day as your way of celebrating this week. We are hopeful that a day in school will further your appreciation of our high school program of studies and provide encouragement for the schoolwork being done by students and teachers. Even if you cannot spend a full day with us, we believe that any part of the day you are here will be interesting for you and supportive of your daughter or son. We look forward to seeing you – mark your calendars!
I hope you had a great weekend.
