Wredling Curriculum Nights Next Week!
Our curriculum nights are coming! Please read the notes below:
- 7th and 8th grade curriculum night is on Tuesday, August 30 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
- 6th grade curriculum night is on Wednesday, August 31 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
- PLEASE COME EARLY so that you can stop at your child's locker to pick up their schedule. You will need to know your child's locker number! (But if you forget, we will have locker numbers posted outside the LRC and in the front lobby.)
- Please note that this event is for parents/guardians only.
- Remember that this is not an opportunity to ask about your child's progress, but rather to hear about learning and curriculum here at WMS. If you need an update on your child, please email or call your child's teachers.
- PE and health classes will meet in the cafeteria.
- On the schedule on your child’s locker will be specific information about where to go for Explore classes.
- Parents of students in more than one performance music group, which meet during the same period, have a choice:
- If multiple parents are present, divide up, each going to one
- If only 1 parent is present, choose 1 to attend, but stop by the other to obtain any paperwork handed out
PARKING WILL BE VERY TIGHT! Please do not park in the front driveway nearest the building as it is a fire zone and is marked with a yellow curb. You may park on the opposite side of the circle.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
Enjoy your weekend!

A Message about Bullying at Wredling from Tim Swade, one of our Deans:
Everyone has a role to play in bullying prevention and response, and in promoting a culture of respect, responsibility and resiliency. Parents and families are central to this effort. Here’s information about what parents and families can do to prevent bullying, and what happens when bullying is reported to the school. We are not a perfect school and we know bullying happens, often too frequently.
I strongly encourage you to help your child become a strong self-advocate and to report bullying issues. It can be tough getting them to stop by and talk to a teacher or send an email, but this is a life-long skill that is vital to cultivate. Ideally, it is your child who contacts the adults at WMS, but we also understand that there are times when they may need some help from an adult in making contact.
Problems aren’t always solved the first go-around. Sometimes it takes a few interventions to solve the problem. Bullying does not always stop, or a relationship is not always repaired, the first time we address it. But we are here to be your partner to solve these problems together. We will continue to work with you on these issues until they are resolved. The best way we solve them is with a calm and rational approach.
Please talk with your child to let them know they need to talk with someone they trust (family member or school staff member) about any issues they are experiencing at school. Your child can also use the Bullying Reporting Form which is accessible on the school website under the “Students” tab. They should also feel free to email one of our Deans, Mr. Swade or Mrs. Hickman.
When we learn about bullying, we take the time to investigate the issue. We interview other students and get statements from any adults who might be involved. We also ask the student to write a statement.
Be persistent. Bullying may not end overnight. We commit to making it stop and consistently support the bullied child.
Let us know if the bullying continues in the future, so we can address the situation. Continued communication from the student and/or parent is important.
Please remember that the law does not allow school personnel to discuss discipline, consequences, or services given to other children.
Dealing with bullying is tough. But when we all partner together we can effectively stop bullying here at Wredling. Please join us to stop bullying at WMS!
High School Football Games
It is high school football season! Tonight is East High School’s first home football game. Our Wredling students are welcome to attend their high school’s football games. In order to be admitted, middle school students need to have their Wredling ID and a parent with them and no backpacks are allowed. Students are expected to be on their best behavior and follow all school rules. It is important to represent Wredling proudly by exhibiting appropriate behavior. Students unable to behave appropriately will have their parents contacted and will be asked to leave.
i-Ready Reports Are Coming Home
The results for the i-Ready Beginning of The Year Diagnostics for both reading and math will be carried home by students next Thursday, September 2nd. In addition to the results, you will receive a letter from Mr. Dave Chiszar, Director of Assessment and Accountability, as well as information regarding how to interpret your child’s scores. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor for assistance.

Big Hearts of Fox Valley
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization making a difference in our own community by brightening the lives of D303 children affected by financial hardship at Christmas time and throughout the school year. One of the needs BHFV faces every year is items for teens both during the holidays and throughout the year. Our Wredling community is hoping to help with these Needs for Teens with a collection drive.
Boxes will be at the front doors of Wredling on Curriculum Night Tuesday, August 30th for easy drop off. Any donations of the listed items would be so very appreciated and help students in D303 greatly. We will also have a box for donations on the field at Color Run on September 29th if you'd like to bring in donations then.
You can also make a monetary donation to BHFV that will go 100% to purchasing items for these D303 children and teens in need by visiting Make a Donation - Big Hearts of Fox Valley (bigheartsfv.org)
We are also looking for 10 Wredling families to sponsor a child for the holidays. Lists will be distributed in mid October.
If you have any questions or are interested in sponsorship, please reach out to Jackie Walzer at jmwalzer@hotmail.com
