WANTED: your help promoting the Omaha Area College Fair
The Omaha Area College Fair is Sunday, September 29 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at University of Nebraska at Omaha Sapp Fieldhouse. This is an opportunity for seniors to wrap up their college selection process - and for juniors to get started.
Your counseling office should have received a packet with brochures and posters. You'll also find promotional materials on our website including:
4-up invitation
List of participating colleges
Posts in English and Spanish
Brochure
Article for you school newsletter or website
PPT slide to display on your school's TV screen
Before attending, students should register for a barcode at NebraskaCollegeFairs.org, print the barcode or download it to their smartphone, and take it to the fair so college reps can scan it. Click here for more details.
10th Grade Leadership Opportunity
Students may now apply for Youth Leadership Omaha, a comprehensive leadership development program that brings together 40 high school sophomores from schools all over the Omaha metro area to learn leadership skills in an interactive program with community speakers in a variety of venues.
Application packets are available online at http://business.creighton.edu/ylo. The process is completely digital! Please note:
The Application Form must be filled out online and submitted by the deadline, September 20, 2019. The application must be completed in one session. Applicants can NOT save and return to complete later. We recommend “cutting and pasting” answers into the form so you can save your work in a word document / draft as you go.
The Pledge of Attendance, Parent Permission and Principal Approval Form and two reference forms must be received September 20, 2019. All forms will be sent to recommenders (by you) electronically, and received (by Creighton) electronically.
Students will receive all information and announcements electronically.
Students will be able to view the status of their application, and which forms have been received.
As in years past, there are no fees for the program. The program was designed for students who want to develop their leadership skills, but may not have had the chance to do so.
Activities will include an opening and closing all-day retreat at Creighton University, and five seminars, beginning in November and concluding with an April graduation ceremony.
