All Things Baker!
Principal's Message!
We had such a busy week last week, I am hoping everyone slowed down a bit this weekend to enjoy your family and take a deep breath to prepare for the challenges of the week ahead! I hope to see all of you at our Donuts for Grownups on Friday. It is a great way to start the day. Come by have a donut with your little one and chat a bit before you start your day!
We celebrated our custodian, Maria, last Wednesday for National Custodian Appreciation Day and in light of that I wanted to send a quick reminder. We need to be so thankful for this sweet lady as well as our evening custodians, Maria, Ernesto, and Manualo. I speak to the kiddos all the time about being thoughtful and respectful of these people that help Baker look its best all the time. But I also want to remind them that we are all responsible for that too. It is our responsibility to clean up after ourselves and be responsible for the spaces on campus that we share, bathrooms, cafteria, hallways. I just want to remind you we are a family and the school building is our home during the day, please remind your kiddos to always be respectful of their home away from home and the people who take care of it!
As always, thank you all for your support and at Baker Elementary we believe In a World Where You Can Be Anything . . . Be Kind!
Sincerely,
Danielle Wallace
The Elementary Art SHOP VAC CHALLENGE!
Each elementary school art teacher was given a small shop vac to help keep their art room clean this year. They were then given the challenge of bringing their shop vac to life. Baker came in second!

Storybook Pumpkin Time!
Your child is invited to create a storybook pumpkin to be displayed in the Baker library for the month of October! This is something that is optional and done at home. Your child can choose a character from a book and then transform a pumpkin into that character. There are examples attached to this email!
The storybook character pumpkin can be dropped off in the library anytime and will be displayed through October 31st! Please make sure that the pumpkin is picked up by Thursday, November 1st! We did have some pumpkins that went bad and we had to throw away before the month was over last year, so just be aware that the pumpkin may not be here to take back home. Some people did use plastic pumpkins, so that is always an option instead of a real pumpkin.
Email Mrs. Calhoun (recalhoun @prosper-isd.net) if you have any questions!
YEARBOOK COVER ART COMPETITION!
Below is the information for the yearbook art cover competition! We are very excited to see what creative things our students will come up with. If your student needs a paper copy of the attachment there are paper copies outside of Mrs. Sakakini's room (417). The due date for all Yearbook Cover submissions is October 18th.
All the rest of the information you need is located in the attachment.
21 Day Challenge - "Be a Super Snacker"
Prosper ISD is competing against Wylie ISD to promote health and nutrition in a friendly competition sponsored by Medical City Children’s Hospital called the 21-Day Challenge. The Registration period is September 23 through October 7. The Challenge starts on October 7. The primary purpose is for our own elementary students to create healthy snack options and commit to healthier “snacking” for this 21-day period in hopes that will create habits of healthier eating for life. This is a good-natured competition promoting a great cause. Scores are based on the percentage of parents that enroll their child in the program, eat healthy snacks and do the post-challenge survey. Some of the menu items in the healthy snack recipe book were created by our high school culinary students, taste-tested by parents/students, and submitted.
More information will be coming out through your PISD Elementary PE classes, but here is how to register:
