November 2014 Minutes for Moms

Message from the President

With the cool weather, crisp air, crunch of the fall leaves, pumpkins and colorful trees, comes the celebration of Thanksgiving. It's the time of year to reflect on all of the things that we are thankful for. Although we know we are thankful for so many things on a daily basis, this time of year helps us sit down, reflect, and take time out of our very busy days to really think about and realize all that we are grateful for. It's time not to focus on our wants, desires and what we wish we had, but instead to realize all that we have right in front of us. The little things that we usually don't think about each day such as food, clean water and a roof over our heads. Of course families, children and great friends usually top the list too! As you sit at the table enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving meal, take a few minutes to think about what you are thankful for this year. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the holiday food and the laughter of those around you.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Past Events

October was packed with lots of seasonal events and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We kicked off the month by heading out to Hellerick's Family Farm where the kids enjoyed all sorts of activities from seeing animals, listening to stories, riding tricycles and picking out their very own pumpkin. We enjoyed a few park days, trying to soak up the nice weather before the cold air (and snow!) will be here before we know it. We went to Little gym to enjoy a free class, another day at Hellericks Farm, and a nice dinner out with the moms. Two big hits this month were the pumpkin painting event and the Halloween party. The kids had a blast painting their pumpkins, creating the perfect one to display. The kids also had a lot of fun dressing up in their costumes and celebrating Halloween together at the Halloween party! It was a great month!

Host Needed

We are in need of a host for the December Members Social. If you would like to host this event, you would pick the day that works for you. If anyone is interested in opening their home for this event, please e-mail me (kdavison18@hotmail.com). Thank you!

New Members

We have 2 new members this month!

Please welcome Tonia Maschi who was referred to our club by Jeannine Walsh (thanks Jeannine!). She enjoys exercising and spending time with her girls, Sam (7) and Kate (just turned 3). She is interested in joining a playgroup and can be reached at toniamaschi@gmail.com.

Please welcome Stephanie (& Anthony) Lerro and their two daughters Amanda (7) and Sophia (9 months). Stephanie enjoys talking to people and going out to different outings. She is interested in joining a playgroup with Sophia as well as looking to connect with moms with kids in school Amanda’s age. She can be reached at atlsml@comcast.net

Welcome Tonia and Stephanie!

November Charity

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we thought it would be a nice idea to support the Doylestown Food Pantry and collect donations this month. We will be collecting food items starting now until Sunday November 23rd. For those members that are interested in donating, you can drop off your donations to Joy McDonough's house. She will have a bin on her front porch for the collection. Joy's address is: 4937 Davis Dr., Doylestown, PA. (you are also welcome to drop off at my house as well: 4885 Redfield Rd.). An idea to try to make it easier: if you are part of a playgroup, if interested you can collect items as a playgroup and have one member of the playgroup drop off the donations. So if you could put an extra grocery item or two in your shopping cart this month it will help out local families in need. Every donation helps!

The following is a list of suggested food items that are always needed by the Doylestown Food Pantry:

FRUIT ~ TUNA ~ SPAGHETTI SAUCE ~ SUGAR ~ GRAVY ~ CHUNKY SOUPS ~

RICE ~COFFEE ~ MICROWAVE MEALS ~ POWDERED MILK ~ CEREAL ~
SALAD DRESSING

BABY FOOD ~ BABY CEREAL ~ FRUIT ROLL-UPS ~ APPLE SAUCE ~ PEANUT BUTTER ~ GRAPE JELLY ~ FRUIT CUPS ~ KIDS INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED SNACKS ~ CEREAL ~ 100% JUICE BOXES ~ RAVIOLI ~ SPAGHETTIOS
