The Oxford Update

Oxford Elementary School

Picture Day is Coming

Picture day at Oxford Elementary School will be on Tuesday, October 15th. We will be using a new picture company this year, Lifetouch. Lifetouch has been in the photography business for more than 80 years and we are excited to have them capture our student photographs this year. You will receive picture day envelopes in the coming days but in the meantime, you can also check out the Lifetouch website at lifetouch.com. We are looking for some picture day heroes to help us on picture day. Watch the video below and if you are interested in helping, please call the school.

Ms. Nicholas' Class Visits Robert's Farm

4th-grade students visited Robert’s Farm to explore hiking trails, get a tour of the farm and track their steps for the 100 Mile Club with Emily Eastman. Students also did a fun experiment to kick off learning about landforms! They formed mountains and hills with paper, marked the highest peaks with a blue marker and “made it rain” with a spray bottle to see how rivers are formed.

The Wellness Committee Needs Your Help!

Calling all Parents! The Wellness Committee is looking for a few parent volunteers to join our team. We typically meet the first Tuesday of the month from 7:45-8:30. Our Committee works to plan student and staff Wellness Activities and Challenges. If you are interested in joining this motivated team please contact the school.

Third Graders Adopt Reading Beanies!

Each third grader adopted a pet beanie baby this year. The only requirement is that they commit to caring for their pets by reading to it every night. Each pet came with a name tag and an adoption certificate. Students fill out a reading log each night and turn it into the teacher when it’s filled up. This will continue throughout the year. The third graders were excited about this project and motivated to read to their new buddy. They will be able to keep their pets at the end of the school year. This all was made possible by generous donations of beanie babies from Mrs. Alberi and other grown-up friends. Thank you to the Hutchinson’s for helping to name and tag all of our adoptable beanies.
